OK, so Baben sorted me with a Torq Tune!!
Background
I drive a 2005 TDV6 SE, have 17†Cooper ST’s for rubber, a Wind Cheetah Front Runner Roof Rack, G4 kitted Winch & Snorkel.
Why I give you all these stats – well because all these thing basically makes the D3 a little bit slower and shall I say bit heavier on Diesel. (Normally the Roof Rack is off, but going away next week so fitted it last weekend).
Tests:
Before the TT we used telemetry equipment and tested the D3 on 3 sections of road. The tank was FULL, tyre pressure on the Coopers was at Road Pressure. Aircon was off.
0-100Km/h ( AVE between best of 17.1 sec and worst was 18.7 sec)
Quarter Mile was done at 22.6 sec topping out at 106Km/h
AFTER TT:
Again tank was filled to make sure we are doing like for like tests.
0-100 Km/h (AVE between 14.0 -14.2 Sec)
Quarter Mile was done in 20.0 flat topping out at 114Km/h
The Drag Race:
OK so then Baben and IronMan decided to do a little drag racing in Midrand this morning!!!
IronMan – kitted as above vs a stock Standard TDV6 road tyres and no extras or roof rack...
At pull away the stock D3 pulls away quicker probably due to less wind resistance and weight! Takes about 5 sec then IronMan D3 seriously kicks but!!
General:
1st things 1st! I’m NOT in this for racing!! But I can tell you the difference is VERY VERY noticeable! The car even with all the kit drives very responsive, no turbo lag!
I’m off to Lesotho for some serious overlanding next week, will also report back my findings on consumption etc.
Summary:1st impressions are WOW!!! The gearbox will still need to re-adapt according to drive style. More feedback to follow... but for now – WORTH IT!!

Nice one Baben!
Ironman, bear in mind that the remap does not change the TR engine maps, that said, you'll probably find that the available torque in 'normal' gives you better response than sand mode anyway! 8)

OK, I'm gonna bring my Dad as well then
Just tried the RS4 (standard one) on my G-tech. 0-100kmh 6.2 was the best I could get. OK I struggled off the line a bit, but it just goes to show how much our altitude affects your performance.
I reckon if you can get a TDV6 to do under 12 ( without loading the torque converter etc.) you are doing great

I would be interested to see what my 2007 TDV6 does, I know the injecton system has been changed on the 2007. I know I wip a Touareg VW out the blocks topend and torque up a hill too. Turbo Chip White LR3 TDV6 2007

OK I'll rent out the G-tech next time we get together R1000 a pop OK?
Maybe we should arrange a get together somewhere nice & quiet, with a long stretch of level road? That way we can all have a go.
Any ideas in the Midrand/Sandton area?

On a Sunday the Krugersdorp highway is quiet not sure what needs to be setup, or where Blackrock used to be at the end on the N4 towards Hartebeesport?
Gerotek could also be an option White LR3 TDV6 2007

N14 is an option for top-speed runs, but a bit tricky for 0-100 cos the bikers get upset when you stop 5 D3's in 't road
If you're talking weekends, Halfway (round my office) is a ghost town after 3 on a friday. Could use that as a base & do a few runs

Could I ask, does the car kick out more smoke since the tune? Particularly under hard acceleration? 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

I have turbo chip and yes it does smoke more, spoke to Elton and he said that when you hammer it a high fueling is used thus the extra smoke. Smoke = torque yet there is a point where over fueling causes power loss.

Cheers, I had mine done by wakeupyourcar.com and it is awesome but smokes a fair bit under load, I can live with it if it is the same with all tuning 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto
