New D4 Commercial - what should i do first? |
|
Hi
Having taken the plunge and ordered my new D4 commercial I was wondering what other owners would recommend i do with it upon receipt to protect and improve my investment?
I'm already booked in with Atlantech but should i look to undertake any other immediate works on the vehicle, for example waxy/dinitrol treatment? Would this give me any warranty issues should there become an underbody issue that LR had to resolve?
(My other vehicle is a 1995 300tdi Defender which is now into the renovation stage rather than prevention )
Thanks in advance

Hi batts
I am seriously considering swapping my defender for a disco commercial. I do mainly motorway miles and towing so after using one for two weeks it makes more sense.
When did you order yours, I'd heard they weren't making them anymore and can you still get discounts. I think I can use my nfu membership to claim in the region of 4%.

Hi Rob
I think i fell lucky with mine, I got it through a broker and it was his last one. Prior to this i had been quoted about the same price for a 5000 mile used vehicle so couldn't really miss the opportunity. Under the circumstances i had no opportunity to amend the order and therefore for example i have the vision assist instead of the reversing camera, but i get a new vehicle for less than a second hand one so i can't complain too much
As the broker plays middle man with a LR dealer I believe NFU discounts are still accepted but despite my insurance being through NFU i wasn't a member for the 3months before to give me the discount.
I ordered mine on the 8th March and was advised it was for an April delivery but I'm still awaiting an update on this.
Good luck with the search

Another question is over the load space - are there any recommended space dividers as SWMBO has absolutely positively agreed to drive this (wouldn't even pop up the shops in the navara!) and if she decides to go to the supermarket it would be nice to not have to recover the contents of the bags randomly dispersed around the load space... 2016 D4 Commercial

I have done to my new D4, front and rear mudflaps, full led interior bulbs, paint protection, carpet and upholstery protection, towbar, activated timed/remote climate so far. I am also considering dinitrol for chassis protection.

I was watching your posts with interest, in fact before ordering mine i was going to query whether, if you cancelled, i could take your order.
Conversation on Friday with broker seems like its gone radio silence on delivery dates..... 2016 D4 Commercial

I asked about Dinitrol but the general consensus was it wasn't needed. I'm still considering it bearing in mind it can be done for about £300 or £125 if you do it your self.

Hi Bodsy
Finally got confirmation over my delivery - can't recall which plan B,C or D I'm on after plan A fell through ! (Lets just say that one of the 'bespoke' suppliers has 12 commercials still available if you want one...)
I've got a rev camera now on this vehicle (Plan A vehicle didn't) but not sure what else/other services you can supply but see that you have a lot of happy customers on the forum...do you have a shopping list and are there certain factory options required for any of them, e.g. timed/remote climate? 2016 D4 Commercial

Two small bales of hay and a couple of Herdwick sheep in the back will enhance any Disco Commercial I feel.
