Land Rover Warranty Extension : Yes or No
Good morning all,
I wonder what the collective would say about buying another year's Land Rover 'full monty" warranty on the D4 Commercial?
It's expensive: around £1k I think (need to check).
Upside: no surprise bills for 12 months I guess.
Downside: I've 'fixed' the Disco twice in last two months out of my own pocket (not huge money) as its a Commercial and dealer waiting times around the Midlands are horrendous with their forecourts full of repair jobs.
I guess it comes down to risk tolerance. I can afford the repairs (the business will need to pay) but of course the gearbox will fall off if I don't buy it (Murphy and his laws).
I have watched posts with people singing the praises of non JLR warranty services but it's not something I have looked into much. Are the costs comparable or is there a saving to be had?
Service coming up. Need to decide. Any and all comments gratefully received.
Thanking you and pre-season festive wishes to all.

Peace of mind Just renewed ours including LRA - needed it last year whilst in France - was a false alarm but LR gave us a 4X4 for the duration that the French garage took to diagnose warning fault.
It is up to each to make up their own minds but for me it is a no brainer. LR Discovery 4 XS pulling an Airstream 532 Caravan also own (since new) a 1996 MGF

I do not remember having driven my D3 in any year without having spent less than 1K for repairs.

I'm just about to order a D4 Graphite and when asked about buying a 2 year extended warranty from new so that servicing (through the service pack) and warranty can be covered for 5 years, the dealers I have talked to look at me as if I'm from outer space claiming that they haven't had this request before. Is it so unusual? What sort of price is involved for a policy written when the car is 3 years old? I am a low mileage user (6-8000 mile per year) who is spooked by stories of engine failures and 'body off' to do any significant work on the car!
Thanks

Currently trying to decide whether I pay £1,185 to renew mine.
I'm not overly keen on spending that much, but equally I'm terrified about owning without a warranty Andy

I took warranty direct at £650 for my first year out of manufacturers warranty, took a while to get that price. Is the Land Rover one any better?Joined the BMWX5 45e group
1994 Defender 90
2015 RRS Corris Grey/Black roof
2016 D4 Graphite Santorini Black
2012 D4 XS Orkney Grey
2005 D3 S Maya Gold
As above, thirteen months for £699, Luxury Care, felt it covered much more than the LR Warranty.

Thanks very much gents, I was planning to have a good search on here over the weekend as I seem to recall others saying Warranty Direct covers more than Land Rover, so thanks for the reminder.
Although, after a crisis of confidence and a search online for alternative cars, a chat with the good Mrs Fitzy, means the Discovery is staying potentially without bothering with a warranty
A trip out also helped restore the faith as well, the Discovery is such a wonderful place to be, even more so after venturing down a very muddy lane, with rather a lot of water.Andy
