well something has change, as I know two of us that have tried those earlier rims on our D3, and they've fouled the front brake calipers.

That's an 05 V8 in that pic, so perhaps there's the difference I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

the only difference between a TDV6 and V8 front brakes is the disk diameter and caliper position (I know as I uprated my TDV6 to the V8 discs), but when I tried those 19"'s I was still on the smaller discs, so if anything, I would have said more chance of fouling on a V8 than a TDV6.

I don't see damage or rubbing marks in the rims or on the brake calipers. So on my D3 they fit. Roel

Do these fit?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Land-Range-Rover-Dis..._500wt_975
They are 17" alloys from a RR Sport apparently but they look identical to the 17" basic Discovery wheels. I'm after some 17s to use off road in and these seem to fit the bill!

yep, same wheels.
RRS uses different tyres, but as these are rims only - you are OK (unless yours is a V8, in which case 17" rims dont fit at all)

Sorry for re-surfacing an old post, but I was trying to work out if my wheels are aftermarket (maybe from a pimped up RRSort) and potentially the wrong size - and I read this:
al cope wrote:The load rating is the tyre, and I wouldnt use 109s, not even for road use. If you do buy, try fitting some 275/45x20s, as you can get these rated at 114.
I only bought my D3 last Friday and it has 20" wheels with 106 load rated tyres - Am I going to die in some high speed tyre failure ?
The rear tyres look brand new (Khumo Ecsta's) and the fronts (Conti Sportcontacts) still have good tread left on them. I looked for some other 275/40/R20 tyres just to replace the ditch finders on the rear and couldn't find anything higher rated than 109!
Cheers,
Simon

that because 275/40's are the wrong size, and the wrong wieght rating. No you are not going to die (well not just yet I hope). Take them off and sell them to somebody with an RRS, and get some 275/45's or 295/45's rated at 111 or above. If you post a pic of your wheels, we can tell you what they came off (or look in the thread of pics of wheels that do fit).

Thanks Al
I just took a photo of one of the wheels:
<img>
I also looked on the Land Rover Accessories website and I think it's a 20"x9.5J 10 Spoke from the Range Rover Sport. This at least confirms that the tyre size of 275/40/R20 is correct for the wheel.
I tested the steering lock at the 3 suspension heights and the tyre didn't rub or foul anywhere, so I'm assuming the 9.5J wheel width is ok (I forgot to take a photo from the front as they tyres look seriously wide).
It looks like 20" alloys for the Disco 3 and Disco 4 come with 109 load rated tyres as standard, but the sizes are 255/45/R20 to suit the slightly narrower wheel. So I'm not sure if I could get away with keeping the alloys and fitting higher load tyres (as I don't think I can afford to replace all 5 alloys and tyres just yet)?
Shopping around I can get 275/40/R20 in a 109 and I could get 275/45/R20 or a 295/40/R20 in a 110 although I'm not sure if the 275/45 will be too tall and the 295 too wide when fitted to the wider 9.5J wheel - thus rubbing or fouling on full steering lock? I'd normally just give it a go, but this could work out as a very expensive mistake.
Do you think I could get away with a 110 load tyre? Is there a particular wheel/tyre combo you'd recommend?
Many Thanks
Simon

OK -so you've got RRS V spokes, which if you look at the "wheels that fit" thread you will see fit the D3 (I've had two sets on my old D3)
275/40/R20 is the correct tyre for the RRS, not for the D3, its nothing to do with the wheel.
20" alloys were never sold by LR for the D3, only the D4, and this comes with 255/50x20's, rated at 109.
As a match against standard D3 255/55x19's, then 275/45x20 are the closest match, 275/40's are to small.
Both 275/45 and 295/45 20's fit that rim and will go on a D3 (see my gallery)
110 rated tyres are "technically" to low for the D3, given the manufactuers spec for minimum 111, although your rims are only weight rated at 900kg, so 110 rated tyres are higher than that at 1060kg. Its you call at the end of the day.

PPS - make sure your insurers know you've got the 20's on, as they are non-standard. I had to pay a little more on my premium, although some insurers are OK with costs, just want to know you've got them. Volvo XC90 B5 Plus Dark

Coming back to the: Old style FFRR 6 spoke fit! comment.
I now understand were the problem can be. It isn't on the outer side diameter part off the caliper but on the side. I put them on yesterday again but with wintertyres and there was some salt corrosion on the barke calipers and now it just touched. One rotation was enough to get the salt of and now it isn't touching anymore but only just. Less then a mm. I can understand that if a TDV6 brake caliper is mounted more to the centre off the axle it will touch the rim. Roel

Guys I have a couple of qestions.
I've been cosidering getting some 17" wheels for off-roading, I think it would benefit from a deeper side wall, my questions are: what is the tyre size that fit the 17" wheels and do these wheels fit ok on a 2008 HSE
Regards

Al,
Do you know if 295/45/22 Tyres would fit or rub on my D3?
