Our past experiences differ, then!
I had a situation a few years ago with a Discovery that would randomly refuse to start. It spent a total over just over six weeks in the dry dock, with no joy. After the third return to the dealer I had had enough, and took it to the top. Two days later a Range Rover was delivered on a low loader, with the promise that if my own vehicle was not fixed within two weeks, they'd supply a replacement. My own vehicle was shipped from the dealer back to Solihull - where it took them ten days to find a loose connection on the ignition switch. The car never misbehaved again, and the service manager at my dealer still knows that when I moan, I mean business.
None of the above would have happened without making a bit of noise, and I have had no cause to make any direct contact with Land Rover since.
Nothing that Land Rover has thrown at me has put me off; I've had a Range Rover and four Discoveries, and have a mixed bag of other vehicles in the shed, including two Series Ones - neither of which ever for wrong!
