For those with Front Runner lang range tanks
An easy way to figure out when the tank is empty (can't always hear the pump while driving) is to watch your range display while pumping . When it stops increasing or starts dropping , chances are the tank is empty

Yep, if you switch to range display and after about 5 min its constant or dropping, then the tank is empty.
I forgot to ask Wayne if the pump can operate dry (or semi-dry) for long periods. Do you know if it is OK?

Does LR have any issues with these Long range tanks being fitted? When I chatted to them in Ct they were adament that fitting one would invalidate warranty due to the fact that the spare tyre formed part of the rear impact protection? It sounded like a load of BS to me but I didn't argue as i was on the bum for a few favours at the time.

What warranty ? The crash test one I have had mine in for a service with the tank in and nothing was said . I even drew attention to the tank and said that they must not switch the pump on because the tank was empty .

Got a spare pump from FR today for only R325 . At that price I would definitely suggest carrying one

Is this the tank built from 2 mm steel, and with a dual filling behind the original cap? I have a serie of very small LEDs on the switch showing how much diesel I have and an even smaller LED indicating the pumps running. The pump is actually so slow it won`t supply enough to run the engine. Need to be run some hours in advance...-05 TDV6 HSE dc5r

Nope out tank is not that fancy The only way you know it is empty is when the pump starts running dry . Hence the need to carry a spare for in case you don't hear it

Hi Heine
I took the vehicle in to Safari Centre (the dealer refered by Frontrunner) in Cape Town and Horst stripped the vehicle to fit the tank and found that the petrol version has an extra tank section for the petrol fumes so there is not enough space to fit frontrunners tank. Frontrunner was not able to come up with a solution as yet.
Cheers

Bummer - sounds like FR didn't know about it either. I don't know of another tank in SA . Maybe you should press FR to make a plan. V8's probably need the tank more than diesels in any case .
