Yep - occasionally (1 in 5/6 goes AND usually when I'm on fumes) it will not open when pushed - stays shut. All I do is lock/unlock the car fomr the remote and the lid usually pops open. I think the locking bolt/solenoid gets 'stuck' - maybe needs a bit of grease? Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Apply gentle pressure and push the flap in then press the unlock on the key. You will find that the flap will push in, then let it go and it will pop outIn the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
If it really won't budge there's a release cable inside where the jack is stored, pulling that does the trick, well it did on mine when it got stuck in Morocco The End

Thanks for the update slimer.
And as for the other replies it not just stay locked it stays unloked but thanks for the ideas.06 s spec with a few extra toches
The fuel flap actuator can sometimes get jammed. This is normally due to the actuator and actuator cable not sitting in the mechanism housing correctly.
If you remove the righthand loadspace access panel and remove the jack, have a look in there and you will see the fuel flap actuator cable (black cable about 4 or 5 mm in diameter) Give this a wiggle and you may be able to make it sit properly.Arctic Frost RR Sport. Had the same problem with mine and had the actuator replaced under warrant with no hassle from the Sealer as it's a common problem according to them!D3 HSE, Stornoway grey, 2007 MY, side steps, privacy glass, door protection strips.

On my "old" HSE the filler got stuck on the Thursday pm before Good Friday 450 miles from home!!! Eventually freed it with fiddling but stealer Service Manager said next time just break it off and they will fix it under warranty!!! They fixed something but had them also do same fix on Mrs DSL's D3 just in case.
