Just a point here what do they classify as 'off road'
I drive bulk on Tarmac but recently been off road quite a bit for work purposes.

If you have to get into an argument with them over the definition of off-road then it's time to move on. Imagine doing that in the midst of a major claim.

They will naturally cover a green lane ...but now thats the end of it ...anywhere else like a forest or a field is a no go. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
No del always been told they don't cover the city types .
Yep they wouldn't insure me either for similar reasons
Even in ruralist ruralshire with livestock and other rural stuff, they suddenly became frikkin' expensive about 3 years ago. Apparently if I don't insure a fleet of pheasant and half a combine with them, not rural enough.

I've never used NFU before and they were the cheapest quote I could find. LV were always very competitive on price for years, then this year bumped it up by over 20%.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

LV were our insurer for years (for 2 years I was Head of Complaints there and I was prepared to pay a premium knowing the service was so good) but in recent years they've been bonkers for us. No points, maximum ncd yet their premiums have been silly. I'd like to go back to them so may give them a whirl this year.
I asked Adrian Flux to clarify what off road cover is exactly. Every time I put my car on my private driveway it's being driven "off road". They agreed that whilst ludicrous it is technically correct and many policies that don't cover it are not being clear.
Many insurers immediately make the assumption that you are taking part in competitions if you are asking for off road cover.

Last year I paid a premium of about £30 to stay with LV, but enough is enough. Shame, as I made a couple of non-fault claims during the last 5 or 6 years and the service was excellent and painless.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I had the same experience DG. Asked them for a quote and then asked LRI (Allianz) if it was April Fools Day when they said they don't cover you for off-road. I can't believe LR would allow Allianz the license to use their name tbh!
I moved from Admiral as they dot cover O/R either and went with Adrian Flux. They are a very friendly bunch.Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! A few pointed messages on social media have led to contact from LR ...they have asked me to contact them. Watch this space.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
Even if they do change their stance on off-road cover they'll need to cover accessories like winches, sump-guards etc. before they'll get a chance of wining lot of business back.
The change to Allianz behind LRI is complete joke, LR have allowed them to use their name but they won't cover many of their vehicles. The End

After seeing comments about LRI not providing off road cover I contacted them and spoke to Charlotte in customer services on 1st March. This is what I wrote in the other thread after that phone call....
Quote:
Ok, that had me worried as I'm with LR insurance. So I phoned customer services and spoke to a very nice girl who immediately re-assured me that they cover all non-competitive off road use provided you are taking reasonable use of the vehicle.
I specifically asked about 3 scenarios - going across a field to see a sick cow (I'm a vet), going green laning (which is technically on-road) and the Keilder 4x4 safari which is an organised event off-road but not competitive. She double checked with a colleague and confirmed that they are all covered - no problem.
She's even going to send an email to all of the sales team to make sure they know that. Thumbs Up
It looks like they need to get their act together and all sing from the same hymn sheet. I would be interested for someone else to speak to customer services and see what response they get?MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added
