Update to problem

UPDATE

The 2 year old Alternator is putting out 15.1 - 15.8V!

So looks like you were spot on!

I had the faults captured and then reset So we'll see if anything new appears.

One strange thing I'm concerned about... the Seats lost their memory?? also I'm sure the car is not driving the same there is deffinaltely more of a lag when acelerating or kicking down. The PO had had a small tune for performance/economy could a reset cause the programing to default to factory?.

I questioned the Garage they said all they did was reset the faults...they didnt even take the Battery out!

This is the first time with this Indy!

Regards

Too high indeed, although for future reference, a little over 15V can be considered normal in colder conditions (for a D3).

I imagine the seat memory loss is probably related (and the modules are poor at the best of times). The remap won't be lost unless the software updated, which they are very unlikely to have done.

Any codes of interest? Any black smoke?

Thumbs Up

Thanks

I don't have the codes (there were 51) they are with the Garage..its going back in for the Alternator replacement next week. I'll get the list then...Think I'll be buying my own Fault checker very soon!

I must say I haven't noticed any black smoke...just on start up a few times but I thought this was normal for an older Diesel.

Hi Lost for words...How can I tell if the software was updated or not...I presume this is the ECU software?

They did mention they were updating the software on their Autologic system when I arrived!

Yes, it's the PCM (Powertrain Control Module - engine ECU) software that's applicable. Without knowing which version was loaded before, it may be that you'd have to get a tuner to look at the file and tell you.

It does sound a bit concerning - was any mention of ECU updates made beforehand?

No

As I said I asked them direct if they had done any ECU resets etc... Just the clearing of codes they said

Maybe i'm getting too sensative.

I should be able to have somone look at the mapping to see if its default or re-mapped (changed) ???

Yet they stated that they were updating software when you arrived? Doesn't sound too good.

Yes, I mapper would be able to tell if it was standard or not. Thumbs Up

Sorry one last one...would the Engine ECU be separate from the ECU that stores the seat controls just wondering if they linked at all

I know the memory controls were working a day or so before
