Alloy wheel- Appoved Anti-seize Compounds |
|
Having once really struggled to remove an alloy wheel off a friend’s vehicle I thought I ought to remove my wheels and grease up the spigots on the Disco3.
However looking in the handbook rather stopped me till I sought some info from the team here.
On page 240 of the vehicles handbook it makes mention using an approved Anti-seize compound.
I quote: -
“4. On alloy wheels, use an approved
anti-seize compound to treat the wheel
mounting bore. This will minimise any
tendency for adhesion between the wheel
and the bore.
• Ensure that no compound comes into
contact with the brake components or
the flat mounting surfaces of the wheel.
• If, due to an emergency situation, this
treatment is not practicable fit the spare
wheel. Remove and treat the wheel at the
earliest opportunity.â€
1. Does anybody here know what compounds are “approved
2. Would I be right in assuming it was done during build, so therefore I don’t need to?
3. And is it done during the first service, again so I would not need to?
Thanks John

A copper slipped into your aerosol the other day? I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Customer: Hello, I'd like a deodorant please
Shopkeeper: Certainly sir. Ball or Aerosol
Customer: Neither, it is for my armpits.
Thank you to the Two Ronnies for that moment of comedy genius. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
