Transmission Fault (Big F)

Hi,

Just had a message come 'transmission fault limited gears available' come up then a big F on the dashboard display. Seemed like maybe 1st gear wasn't available as it was then slow pulling out of a junction.

Not sure whether it's related or not, but last week on a long motorway journey the HDC fault special programs off message came up.

I replaced a brake light bulb a few weeks ago with a non LR bulb, but since I didn't have any issues right away, or until now, I assumed they were OK! Could this be the cause?

I'll give that a go on Monday when the dealer is open again.

It clears after a stop/re-start, same with the HDC fault. Both have only appeared once.

From what I have read about this type of display message from posts on the forum, it can be related to many different possibilities from Brake Switch, Soon to be Duff or low battery power, corroded wires into height sensors, corrosion to the transfer case junction box and so on.

Have you checked battery and alternator power etc?

Have you got anyone close to read codes so that it could give someone with more knowledge of the D3 symptoms etc?

Jay

I already have LED rear lights, new alternator (genuine), new battery, and today I had the big "F" on the dashboard display too.
It occurred when I went to start the car up.
I have had the car 2 years and it's the first time this has happened.
Message also read something about parking brake, gearbox and HDC
I heard a grumbling noise from the fuel tank area.
I switched the ignition off and on a few times then the noise went away and I was able to drive with no problems (so far)

Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

Could it be to do with low fuel pressure from the low pressure fuel pump?
