upgrade the D4 or fix and wait for the D5 ??? |
|
So today after having the parking brake fail, making what I can only imagine a Transformer being crushed would sound, it is now at the dealership waiting to be fixed, oh, along with that the wing mirrors that don't work any more and a front LHS suspension part that needs replacing. It is an 11 plate and done 48k which we bought from new.
I have a bit of a First World Problem ...
Do I get it fixed and wait or should I just replace it as there are some amazing D4 deals to be had, see how the D5 looks and give it a couple of years for them to iron out any issues ? I'm really torn and just wish they'd hurry up with the secret squirrel routine on the D5.

If only all questions in life were so easy
Get a good deal on a D4. Alternatively, wait a few years for the D5 to be properly developed and for reasonable deals to appear and then spend around £1,800 for the first years VED and at least £500 a year under the government's new jealousy based VED charges scale (engineered to hit anyone who pays more that £40,000 for their new car). 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!
(One of only two known to exist in the world!)

Yes the jealousy tax, part of the reason I'm thinking about going for my ultimate car, a FFRR as I can only afford a used one so the new tax doesn't affect it. That's unless LR can get the D5 out the factory without delays (that'll be a first suffered delays with my evoque and DS) and registered before the 1st April 2017. 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

In the old days you could register a car as long as you had the chassis number even if it was not yet physical. If this still works then it could be useful come next March. 2014MY Discovery

Does options bring it into the new VED system or is it based on the price before options? 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

List price including options apparently. At least it will reduce this needless drive to diesel. 2014MY Discovery
