Squeaky centre console / cupholder |
|
Hi all, anyone else got a squeaky centre console / cupholder and if so any tips to address this ?
Normal LR plastic good to see some things don't improve on the newer cars.....does purchasing a new cup holder help ?

Hey!
Are you certain that the squeak is coming from there? I've been noticing an annoying squeak lately but it's actually coming from the seat belt attachment rubbing against the centre console or seat - if anyone has a solution for that too I'd be all ears!

I have an assortment of creaks and squeaks, none of which were fixed after several trips into LR before the 3 year warranty expired.
I did however find a fix for the noisy seat belt buckle with the front seats; bought black velcro tape and cut the soft side to match the soft felt pad stuck on the outside of each front seat (side of centre box) and this stops it squeaking against the leather when you have a passenger in the front seat!

Im not sure I follow how sticking soft sided velcro to the centre console (near the seatbelt) stops it from rubbing on the leather of the seat and making a noise.
I have some sticky back felt that I plan to stick on the belt socket where it makes contact with the seat base, and see if that cures it. Recent road trip saw me put a folded tissue in that same spot and it worked a treat.

Well spotted Singh - I meant to say I stuck the soft part of the velcro tape on the INSIDE of the seat belt buckle, where it touches the seat
