Insurance swap over saga. |
|
Just called Adrian Flux to try and add the disco on for a month, whilst I try and sell my P38. A rough quote was £150 for a month,
So I asked them just to transfer it over, from my 2002 4.6 litre petrol to the 2004 2.7 litre Diesel and I was told that I would have to cancel my policy and start another one, as my existing insurer won't cover the Disco, and came back with a quote of £402
Been on to Aviva, my "every day" car insurer and to cover me until March next year, with no more than 8000 miles, is only £142 fully comp. (me and the wife have a multi-car policy with them already)
Think Mr Flux (aka Dick Turpin) was trying to have a laugh at my expense.
It pays to shop around.

A few years ago, SWMBO had a van caged out for her dogs which was insured via Adrian Flux. When the renewal came through I did the usual ring round/interweb search and found insurance with the same cover for less money. I rang Flux to confirm that she would not be renewing and was asked why. I told them how much I was saving and low and behold they had a word with the underwriters and they could match the quote. It seems that their approach is "how much can we rinse out of our client", had they offered me that price in the first place we would have renewed with them. Needless to say I told them where they could go. CGA

They all seem to be doing this. Relying on the customers who can't be bothered to search and compare to make a bigger profit.

Very true, they seem to rely on the "if you don't contact us, we will automatically renew your insurance" method.
It's very annoying that you have to threaten to leave, before they manage to come up with a more acceptable quote. It's not just insurance though, seems to be on most things, mobile phones, Sky etc.
