[For Sale] Another leaves the fold... 2016 HSE

Didn’t think this would happen any time soon, but...

It was bye bye LR, hello Mercedes for MrH and MrsH today.

After we went in to LR to see how soon they could possibly fit our D4 in for a new compressor we crossed the road (literally), and had a mooch around the E-Class estates. One caught our eye and MrsH was sold after the test drive and it’s her daily vehicle, whereas I just drive it once in a blue moon, so her choice really.

So talked money and long story short, they offered us money back for the 65-reg Disco in exchange for a very nice vehicle that has 30k miles less on the clock and is 2 years newer and has all the bells and whistles we (I) could want.

So if anyone wants to buy our LR65 MUD its £29,000.00, it’s yours provided you pay cleared funds into my account by 5pm this Thursday,17th Jan 2019. Mileage approx 42k see photo.

Following are some photos, I will try to take more tomorrow but MrsH tends to get home after dark, so the photo of the outside are from quite a while ago, for now.

It’s a MY2016 HSE EU6 with Adblu, fitted with:
Active Read Diff,
Parking Heater and Remote,
Surround Cameras,
Meridian Sound System,
Heated Steering Wheel,
Adaptive Bi-Xenon headlights, no High Beam Assist,
Fixed Towbar with Twin Electrics,
Genuine RAI,
Genuine Rear Ladder,
RLD Spare Wheel protector and Bashplate,
carpet and rubber matts,
mud flaps (oem front & LR Series rear),
centre cubby cooler,
in Firence Red.
Tyres are Pirelli Skorpions, not ATRs, and these have approx 6mm all round. In September 2018

I took out a 3-yr Warranty Direct extended Warranty with all options for which I’ve paid the first 5 of 10 installments so far.

There are a couple light scratches in the paint work for too close an encounter with the hedge as it got reversed down, but not serious damage or kerbing. I need to get it washed before getting photos of these, so not sure if that’ll happen before it goes. But all should buff out no problem, that was planned for later this year if we’d kept her.

Other than crossing acamping field, this lady has NEVER been off-roading, unlike our previous Discoveries.

Yeah, was surprised myself, but just couldn’t justify putting up with LRs excuses and reliability issues combined with their costs any longer. Was time to cut our losses.

Good luck with the Merc, lovely cars but after service is crap, I hope you get better after sales service satisfaction than I did, 10 no 100 times worse than LR.
One week out of warranty with a fault 2 main agency’s had failed to find in the previous 8 weeks the third diagnosed a cracked inlet manifold, on querying the warranty situation I was asked by the workshop manager, “ can’t you afford to pay for your car repairs sir”!
I had a problem with starting when hot, after one of the agents had had it for a week leaving me without a car I phoned them to find out what was happening, the answer was “we can’t find the fault sir, we have spoken to Mercedes and they suggest a systematic change of all relevant components starting with the most expensive the ECU”, the problem was found and cured by a back street garage a 2p “O” ring had not been fitted correct in the fuel line.
All instruments and gauges failed, took it to main agent, they quoted £4500 for a complete new instrument cluster, I took it to the same back street garage he did what we call a “hard reset”, within 5 minutes all the instruments where working- no charge.
I could go on but I won’t, I just hope you get better service, satisfaction and enjoyment out of your new car, me? - I will never ever buy another Merc I’m afraid.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Well, I’m sad, but I’m not surprised. LR dealers really need to sort out their Censored .

Sad day but with what you’ve been through (and going through) just keep the thought “it’s just a car” in your mind. Thumbs Up

Totally Del, had some (many) good times in the LRs, but time for a new chapter.

As for dealers, well at least with the Merc I have the choice of 4 main dealers close by, whereas for LRs unless I wanted to go to the crap local one where you wait 20 minutes or more before they even talk to you, I have a 70 mile journey to one - unless you count the one just outside Bristol who I was told by last time they aren’t taking on new customers Shocked

At least the MB dealer I was at yesterday made every effort to help, had a good vibe about it and even the other customers seemed impressed and happy with the service as we. So fingers crossed.

Shocked Shocked

A colleague and is currently waiting for 2 weeks for his new Audi battery “to arrive from Germany”. That’s two weeks using jump leads to start the car. I wonder what a two week delay will become after the 31st of March?
