United Kingdom 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 Metropolis LE Auto Bonatti GreyDiscovery 3

My wife had several mercs and all without excepetion were damned good machines, sadly rust became an issue on the w203 and w120 models.
I always thought they were a bit squishy handling wise.

Edit not has but had!

Yeah, was surprised myself, but just couldn’t justify putting up with LRs excuses and reliability issues combined with their costs any longer. Was time to cut our losses.

You should email Dr. Ralph. ( Ralf Speth (ralf.speth@jaguarlandrover.com) )

I've given up with them and won't waste another breath or email on a lost cause

It would accomplish nothing anyway, as any problems will be blamed on anything but them. Driving style comes to mind.

Mind you, that might not be too far from the truth. Laughing Laughing

Enjoy the Mercedes, had a C class (95,000 miles and three years), only issue in that time was one blocked screen washer jet, sorted by dealer on an unbooked and unscheduled visit to the dealer one lunchtime whilst I drank their coffee, great cars and found the dealers to be exceptionally good, although really only needed services.

Didn't MB take back all dealerships because they had service issues, or am I dreaming? Maybe this is what LR should do?

MB did - but I’m not sure if it was for commercial or service improvements - I bought a new C240 from a MB ‘independent’ Dealer in 2002 - service was great, then move to an MB owned Dealer - service not as good

Sad times.

At this rate there'll be more LR defectors on this forum than there are users. Confused

At some point I'll be looking to get something for me if a more local contract comes up (the Volvo is Stel's as I mostly work in London so use the train).

While I *want* to like the idea of getting an evoque and lightly modifying it, I can't help but look at the value proposition offered by the GLA. Better economy, better performance, will manage the fields I go across on my shoot.

Also just returned from driving an XC40 for a week out of Geneva and liked it even more than our XC60. Not convinced it would manage the field work however.

JLR need to revisit where their success came from. When the Freelander came out, a whole new market was opened up to them. There's only so many re-cuts of the Range Rover you can do (everything with the exception of the DS is vying for Range Rover values). There's room in their branding for an entry level family and utility vehicle, light, no low range needed with modern 9 and 10 speed autos, something they could market sub £30k with the essentials. All this talk of "we're premium" ignores the fact that ALL their premium competition span the model and price range. BMW, Audi, Merc, all offer vehicles in that lower price point and build brand loyalty from there. Conquest marketing fails the moment your brand gets a kicking in the surveys.
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

They think they can just get the top of the marangue, taking the lemon and fluffy stuff, leaving others to do the buttery biscuit base for the masses. With the level of contempt they treat their top(ish) end customers, hate to think how they’d treat the peasants that would buy their “basic” cars were they to do such things. Thumbs Up

I feel sorry for the workers - my nephew included - who just got this latest kick in the teeth. But unfortunately there's not a lot we can do, except vote with our wallets. Sadly I don't believe this'll be the last of the redundancies at JLR, because even if they were to suddenly listen to what people have been saying, it's going to take a long time to turn this Oil Tanker of a business around and rebuild faith and loyalty.
