MY08 Disco 3 SE manual in Buck Blue
1960 Series 2 88" (No idea why I sold it!)
Well mine arrived today
Good bit of kit I must admit, everything I expected quality wise..
I have slightly tweaked the installation of mine, due to it being fitted behind the dog guard.
I wanted to store a 'Really Usefull Box' which contains both Jetboils and basic brew equipment and first aid kit.
Instead of the lugga sitting on the brackets,it now hangs from,I added a few (4) longer bolts and spacers to enable my box to fit in.
It now hangs down 30mm more than it should do..
Pictures enclosed..
I had the same thought about adding spacers to lower the shelf even more to get larger items up there. What I want is the 426 (large shelf,no dog guard) with the brackets from the 427 (smaller shelf, LR dog guard version) to maximize the gap from the roof.
BTW: I got a response from Mantec and they are being very helpful. I'm hoping they choose to adapt and make brackets that accommodate my situation so I don't have to hack up a perfectly good unit to make it work for me.1998 Discovery LSE - Gold, 249,000+ miles, completely stock

Of course you don't "need" one but since when has need come into the equation.
Re those spacers, any more details?
The spacers, 20mm plastic pipe cut to size (30mm)that I had lying around in the shed,I added some plastic washers to the bolt head just to finish the job off...
For me this solution does solve a storage issue that means there is nothing on the back seat or in the foot wells.
Perfect for 2 lightweight coats, brew box and 2 tripod legged stools..oh and doggie bowl..

First one will be about a month, second type will be 2 months, both sub £200 Belts, done

Yikes! I just got a quote for shipping to the USA and it's 75% of the cost of the shelf to begin with!
£121 GBP Shipping
£162 GBP Shelf
That's £283 GBP ($365 USD) which makes this thing I "want" not "need" harder to justify.1998 Discovery LSE - Gold, 249,000+ miles, completely stock
