Dex, your right, but it's a view a lot of people now hold. I mean, I am not the only one in this thread to express disquiet.
Very few people in the area actually benefit from the increased tourism. For most it's case that they create problems on the roads, queues in the supermarkets, then come the end of October it's normally quiet for 6 months before it kicks off again.
The Indy 500, sorry NC500, does attract a lot of undesirable motorists, bulk groups hairy bikers of all nationalities, all thinking they are Barry Shene, to mega Motorhomes, take it all with them, camp in passing places. I've even seen them park down the Machair, how they get they get there, I don't know, when you'd have problems with your Disco, to left hand drive vehicles, who forget which side of the road they should be on, to elderly driver Convertables, whom don't have their wits about them, but speed because they like the sound of the exhaust. There has already been fatalities of all denominations and it will only increase. Bad enough anyone should die on that stretch of road, but quite often it's the innocent locals.
Apologies OP, I am sure your not one of the above groups.
As for where to stay, you should know roughly what area your going to be in, just search B&B and phone them up re disabled facilities, most will help if they can.
