I was in the US last week and had a Hyundai Santa Fe which I did 500 miles in. I must say I was very impressed with it. Comfortable, quiet, well made and well specced. It was very big inside and had 7 good seats and a good boot. Looking on line it also comes with a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty, has great reviews
It's got to make you think....
has it got a split tailgate ?BREXIT - done properly.

It is only a 'soft' off roader with 7inches ground clearance and a towing capacity of 2 tons. Boot space is not great and the access shape/size is quite small. But is has all the gizmo's and a long warranty..

We organised an off road press event for Hyundai last year to show off the new 4wd system that the Santa Fe had, nice enough car and bigger than a DS but I would say not as capable as the DS and a good bit smaller than the D4. I ran a press car for a couple of weeks and yes it had a lot of toys but I found the ride to be quite harsh and it was quite noisy, the press pack in the car said with all the options it had it was priced at £38K which I felt was a lot of money for what it was.

£38K is a lot of money for a Hyundai, you can get a good spec DS for that and I know which one I would take.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Which is exactly why I roll my eyes when someone thinks that a £50k Disco 4 or the new 5 is expensive.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

The problem with LR is they increase the price but take bits off.
The new Disco will start around £45k for a 5 seater, no air suspension, no low range and a 2.0 engine for £3k more than my SE with 7 seats, air suspension, low range and a 3.0 engine.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Agreed but thats no different to any other marque ...its the way it works.
All manufactures are down sizing engines across ranges to meet regs ( of course we could now set our own ...but I doubt it ) ...with the days of the SDV6 numbered we are going to have to get used to 3 & 4 pots and straight 6's in both fuels....and with diesel being the new Antichrist ...we are going to have to gamble.
The other thing is that our views on this now will be swept away by 2020 with the big players already focussing heavily on autonomous vehicles, electric & hydrogen power the landscape will be entirely different IMO.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

DG really don't have a problem it was just a shock I am now looking at about £20000 more to get a new FFRR whereas RRS is about right price wise but base spec.....besides RRS does not fit dogs and SWMBO prefers FFRR. Could be a D5 but will be too new. I will just sit back and wait a bit.

It's a shame that we're in the closing stages of engines like the V6, but then I thought that the 2.4 litre Volvo D5 would be the last time I'd ever own a Diesel engine that big and interesting when I parted with it in 2011!
There will soon become a stage where a relatively anaemic 2.0 Ingenium diesel is as wild as it gets. Until that time, why not hang on to the real thing for as long as possible?2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
