Finally giving in...
after just over a year of ownership of my first LR, I trade-in this weekend - and leave the fold.
The forum has been a great source of tech', queries and answers of all sorts.
Big thanks to all and hopefully, not many of you will ever experience the issues I had with mine - and more importantly the dealership.
Cheers all

Out of interest...what is your next choice of vehicle?
I have to say that I am not enamoured by my LR dealers service so far either and its only been 6/7 months from new!
Also asked them to keep me updated on the new D5...nothing so far...utter t0$$ers.
Without this forum I would know nothing about the upcoming D5, my dealer clearly can't be arsed.

Same here. Fed up with my useless dealer so I enquired about the new D5 at a different dealer - no return call. I've had a lot of new cars in my time and LR are the worst I've ever come across.Velar MY18 D180 S Narvik

What are you replacing it with?
I must admit it will be my dealer that will stop me from buying another as they are the worst ever dealer I have ever dealt with.Andy

I have to agree. I've contacted the Sales Managers at my two nearest LR dealers more than six months ago via the LR email system. In neither case did I even get an aknowledgment and have heard nothing from them regarding the D5.. The same happened regarding the Evoque and it was only Land Rovers intervention that got me an invite to view the car at a dealership 30 miles away.
I can't understand it, surely they must have a record of the fact I've bought five of their cars in the last 5 years and yet it seems as though none of their systems are joined up and they just wait for you to contact them
Ok, a lot of dealers are but that wouldn't cause me to ditch the car I love and trust.
We have a 125-mile round trip to our prefered dealer, got closer ones, but they'll never see my trade again, not even for warranty work.LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Haven't had any problems with my dealer. Now walk into an Arnold Clark dealer and that's a different story, you can smell the bull as soon as you walk through the door.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Well...I came out of a purchased new 12 plate XKR and bought a new D4 Lux to order spec... in all fairness to the dealers, the cars are built in this country. I will never buy anything from the Jaguar LR portfolio again.
For anyone bothered, my previous posts explain my problems with this vehicle. The dealer (whom I've never named) have an amazing knack of attempting to convince me that nobody else has similar issues.
Within 36 hours of driving off the forecourt, the car stalled at midnight with my family in the car , all asleep and miraculously ending up in a field without hitting anything.
The codec was found but never rectified. It happened again.
My interior lights STILL DONT WORK and they were only too happy to say that they would put it right and give me a RRS for a week - whilst they removed the interior lining of the roof..and so on.
And the map lights still don't work.
Massive apologies for the rant.
I've bought a Volvo XC90 inscription with every possible extra inc air suspension - for the same price I paid for the Lux.
It's not an off-roader but the comfort and tech - and the nappa perforated interior..ahh.
16 months ago....the LR dealer made me aware of the oncoming D5. "We'll get you into a new car and look after you"
Yeah. F all.
I won't be joining any Volvo forum...and I'll miss the banter between Disco owners.
Next time you pass some non-descript Volvo XC90 on the southbound A1 into London, just muse..."why did he spend that money..when he could have been driving a Discovery.."

Welcome to the wonderful world of Volvo dealers!
One of the last times I took my V70 in it was because it needed a headlamp bulb changing (Seriously! It needed a dealer, as it was impossible to get to the bulb by hand )
When they gave it back to me, one side of the bonnet was jammed open by about an inch and a half On closer investigation, the moron that had changed the bulb had left the old H7 bulb on the slam panel, shut the bonnet and then brought the car back around to the front.
Rather than simply remove it, I asked the service manager to come and have a look; when he came out, he removed it and didn't pass any comment. It left a dent in the underside of the bonnet and the slam panel that are both there to this day, as far as I'm aware! This sort of thing wasn't a one off
After the bad experience that you've just had, I sincerely hope that your experience of Volvo dealers is a lot better than mine! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

You could buy a 4 year old motor, then use reliable knowledgeable mechanics that cost half as much to do the servicing? This means you never have to do business with Main dealers....

Every owner of every marque has their tale to tell of bad experiences at dealerships. Seems to be par for the course in the UK.

My previous Honda dealer was very good, if you ignore the fact they ordered and registered the wrong car to me and then at a later service took mine to the local bakers to get everyone's lunch. They got really annoyed when I drove off in it with the spare key
In truth my Land Rover dealer always was on a hiding to nothing as due to horrendous problems with various Peugeot dealers many years ago, I view all car dealers somewhere considerably below estate agents and tax inspectors.
It isn't a bad plan to stick to older Land Rovers to avoid the dealer network and that is what I will certainly do with mine now.Andy

I have to say my experience with both my BMW GT5 & X6 at both Stratstone & Sytner BMW was superb...very efficient service and the sales guys were far more approachable for a chat than any I have come across so far at LR Dealers...
I have had two Volvo XC60'S and found Volvo service to be good also, no issues at all with them.
I filled in a survey for my dealer service after going back 3 times to correct issues they had created and told them of these woeful cockups they have made and how it has seriously impacted my opinion of the brand and choice of next vehicle (which is frequent due to doing high mileage) & their response...naff all
I Have been involved at the highest levels in the technical service/support industry all my working career & know full well what is required and so far my dealer has left me in no dought that LR after sales & service is well well below par for whats meant to be a high end brand, I am seriously thinking of going back to BMW for a fully loaded X5...I was interested in a new D5 for the new year, but they can off, their pure arrogance, poor service & " ups" will cost them another customer...it has only taken them 5 months to achieve this with a new customer! rant over

For balance, I had a Defender from Stratstone Solihull and had a 6 month nightmare with them. I wouldn't buy a litre of oil from Stratstone!
