[For Sale] Discovery 3 HSE 58 Plate - Non-runner
I'm reluctantly selling my Land Rover Discovery 3 as a non-runner due to engine failure.
My original engine failed at 106k miles and I had a refurbished engine fitted, the vehicle has now done 127k miles and the refurbished engine has developed a big end fault. The engine does start and runs very rough but it is not driveable. I don't run the engine in case it does more damage. Vehicle was inspected by local Land Rover retailer and confirmed big end fault but couldn't determine exact fault without stripping engine, suspect big end bearing failure or bearing shells have rotated. Compression test ok.
The vehicle is in good condition with some scratches, most noticeable scratch is on rear boot (photo attached).

Colour matched Wheel arches, front grill, front and rear lights upgraded to D4 style

New alternator fitted 8k miles ago
New glow plugs on refurbished engine
New gear box sump with removable oil filter plus gear box oil change 8k miles ago
Upgraded V8 front discs and pads 12k miles ago

I was sorry to read of your trials & tribulations.
21k miles on a refurbished engine doesn't sound much, and I appreciate that you are out of warranty.
Do you know precisely what work was done to refurbish this engine?
Would you share the details of who refurbished engine & your opinion of them, for the guidance of others please?

Sorry to hear about that its one hell of a shame as its a nice looking motor. Its work a bit more that your asking if broken down and sold as parts and to be honest if I had room I'd go for it myself, good lookBelts, oil pump casing and water pump by Flack

It might be worth more, but I'm pricing it to sell. Had to go back onto company car so it is taking up space. Would love to try and repair it but I don't have the time or the funds (again). This was my dream car and I'm gutted it has failed twice and cost me so much money.
I had the engine replaced at a local independent garage who came highly recommended. The garage did a good job.
I think the refurbished short block came from Scotland from an engineering company that refurbish them. Don't know the name.
I spoke to an engine specialist in Plymouth and he wouldn't touch it and advised he wouldn't buy a refurbished engine from anyone in the U.K. He gets his engines from Holland who offer a 12 month warranty unlimited mileage, and apparently honour that warranty.

Haven't cleaned the inside.
You will see from the photos some engine parts and covers in the boot from when the inspection was done.
EGR's have been blanked off.
