The AT3s are relatively new so doubt anyone will know longevity just yet, might be worthwhile asking about the AT2s17 Golf GT TDI Tornado Red

Just had AT3's fitted today 255/55/R19 and very pleased with the run back home, feeling sure footed and did not notice any additional noise over the scorpions I had on previously.
They look the business as well and looking forward to doing a bit of greenlining at the weekend.

I had a run up the Mway yesterday not in any rush, and I did think these tyres are as quiet as a church mouse.17 Golf GT TDI Tornado Red

If you are not in a rush I would hold out for the 255/55x20 but you can use the 275/45x20 with no problem.
Sorry if a noddy question, but is it really ok to put 275 wide tyres on rims designed for 255? Doesn't it change the forces on the sidewalls? With 255s, the sidewalls will be perpendicular (ish) to the road, 275s will be at an angle. Or is it all negligible?MY16 D4 Graphite in Loire Blue

but there is a problem fitting the 255/55X20 spare under a very late D4.
I've got a MY16 D4 on 19" rims - does the 255/55X19 spare fit any better under the car?
Thanks

According to Andy at AJS it's totally fine, and he is the expert.17 Golf GT TDI Tornado Red

I've just noticed an upside in fitting 275's extra rim protection......

The downside is they have 1/2 inch less sidewall than standard size so puts your nice shiny alloys closer to those kerbs D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

I actually measured the height of the 255 sidewalls before they came off and the 275's are fractionally higher. Granted not as much sidewall as a 18 or 19" rim, but horses of courses........2010 RR 5.0 Autobiography

Must of been due to the tread depth being more on new tyres! In actual fact still nearer kerb but not by much.
Anyway keep us posted as looking for some AT's soon and have ruled out Grabbers in past due to noise issue, especially as they become more worn. Would be nice to have another choice in this size as not much to choose from at present D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST
