"Locking wheel nut"

Had to change a wheel when away from home. I can now tell you that the "locking wheel nut " is very flimsy, not up to the job, and it broke. Pleased to say it was when tightening the studs !

The local LR dealer replaced it under warranty saying it was not the first broken one they had.

It did not need much to break it, and the thing spread outwards, and split.

I know it is a minor thing, but it would be a disaster if it broke whilst loosening the wheel.

It does need redesigning with more built in strength !

Hi Transman
What kind of build date was yours?
Just wondering how many of us should be concerned about this
Cheers

It only affects key "L", and the relevant VIN range is 324129 to 334698
