Spotlamps

Anyone with LR Spot lamps out there, do you have a separate control switch, or do they just come on with main beam?

If they just come on with MB, where does the wire from the spot lamps plug into.

The LR Instructions are on about cutting holes in the dash for switches, and all sorts of wiring mods.

In the good old days, spot lamps came on with full beam, and involved nothing more than a few feet of wire plugged into the main beam wire, and a relay.

If anyone with spot lamps could have a look and let me know I would be grateful.

The bloke I just picked up my 'A' Frame Bull Bar mentioned that you did indeed have to take the dash to pieces to fit a switch for them. He suggested getting non LR Spots and wiriing them into the Headlights in the traditional way - which I take to mean fitting in a relay that cuts in with the full beam.

I don't particularly want to cut into any vehicle wires, there should be a plug in point somewhere to take a main beam feed from. I really can't see the point of a switch.

I don't want to fit poxy Land Rover lamps, I want to fit a pair of Cibie Oscars or similar. Turn night into day Wink

Gareth, spots can only come on with headlights. You can add a switch to cancel them, but not use on their own. Anna uses real stainless steel truck spots on her car which we can get at a very good price and they are eye burners. In fact if she does not chose to replace them on the new car these will be for sale. They are made in the Cibie factory for 24 volt bulbs but I have put 12 volts in of course, but they are not branded.

There is a separate switch to bring on the spot lamps, which is fitted to the left of the steering wheel. If this switch is on then the spots will come on with main beam only, or you can put on main beam then hit the switch. If you hit the switch with out main beam on the spots will not come on.

If you want a quick picture of the switch position I should be able to do that later today.

To be honest, I don't want to put in a switch, I just want to pick up the live feed to main beam and use it to trigger a relay.

I really would like to know the whereabouts of the power feed for main beam.

spot lights switch

Hi Gareth, According to dealer who fitted mine, LR technical say you have to have a switch installed by law.

I reckon that is a load of Censored My Frontera has a dealer fit Abar and lights, but no switch. As long as it comes on only with main beam you are ok. The switch only allows you to switch them off.

Has any one out there with the LR spot lights fitted to the bumper????
If so, with the spotlight kit you should have two flat brackets with two holes through the middle, and two threaded holes in one end...
These are to fit the spots to an A-bar, and my dealer didnt supply them with mine.. Rolling Eyes Mad
Please help as its getting dark out.. Shocked

If someone can give my 'Metal Mickey' alias Hodgesaargh the measurements he could no doubt make them out of stainless steel at a fraction of the cost.

Help!!!! Two of these are all that is stopping me from re-fitting my spotties.
If someone has them spare because they`ve used the bumper kit, which renders these useless! I would love to buy them off you.............
I wait with baited fingertips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wink
