Norto,

About 200km. from Broken Hill, turn Right at YUNTA. (Fuel up here as it will be cheaper than Wilpena!!) The dirt road is pretty well maintained although corrugated in places - it is the most direct route from the Hill and the most interesting! You pass through the ruins of Waukaringa (The gold mine nearby is being worked - be cautious if looking around there!) then continue through station country - do NOT take the left turn signposted BARATTA, BELTON, CARRIETON - continue until just past the turn into Curnamona Station and you will see a sign pointing Left to ERUDINA and MARTINS WELL - at Martins Well the most scenic way is to follow the right hand road which will take you into the Flinders Ranges National Park and it will be signposted clearly to WILPENA, or you can turn Left at Martins Well and go to RAWNSLEY PARK, about 20km. south of Wilpena and on the bitumen.

Very approx. 200km. total from Yunta and no fuel or supplies until Wilpena, but a very interesting drive without being at all taxing. Of course, the usual caution should be taken if it has rained within the past few days - ask at Yunta about the road.

Cheers,

Tony.

Yunta

Norto...

I completed the Yunta to Wilpena setion through Erundina Woolshed about 4 weeks ago....great section of road, hard packed dirt and fast going. Thumbs Up

Went from Yunta to 'Erudina Woolshed', then turned West for the run into the Flinders. Headed into the Flinders from the East as the sun was setting and it was quite magnificent.

I have placed a few pics in my gallery.

For an interesting drive Mildura -> Yunta (via Danggali Conservation Park) -> Wilpena is quite a good drive....long but a lot of fun.
