Which was my original point.
A central 'depository' for documents such as certified copies of the Certificate of Death and will, executors proof of ID/residency etc which could be accessed by the relevant agencies and financial bodies would streamline the process massively. If this were combined with gretaer consistency as to what is required by the financial institutions then it would (or at least should) be a win-win for all but the legal profession.
Instead, we have to spend a small fortune paying lawyers to read documents which we have obtained, and then correct the numerous mistakes which they make when completing the forms etc. All whilst dealing with financial bodies, some of which appear to be doing their utmost to avoid paying out a penny. I don't think it will prove to be the solution you think it is.. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Not necessarily (but probably!)
At present once a person dies then you can record the death centrally and that is passed on to various organisations who need to know such as HMRC, DWP etc - a system which seems to work OK. Why can the scope of that system not be extended?
We already live in a world where our vat and tax returns have to be completed online (and road tax too?) - some govt IT systems do work OK, just not all of them!
TBH I would rather have to deal with a single, central point of reference for probate rather than a myriad of self-serving incompetent organisations, some of which (as already stated) give the distinct impression that they will do anything they can to avoid paying out.Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

Works well enough for other things e.g. passports, driving licences, etc.
SWMBO had to do her 10 year renewal on her driving licence t'other week. As she has a current passport, they just used the photo they have stored for that. She went online, paid the fee and the new card arrived a few days later. As easy as you like.
NHS App works well too. Easy to get prescription renewals without taking up GP waiting room space. 30 seconds on the app and a text message comes from the pharmacy when the pills are ready for collection. App also gives access to history, test results, etc..
No reason why such things as being discussed here can't be done, even by UK Govt.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

My Experience with DVLA license renewals is somewhat different, I moved house during Covid (August 2020) and my license was due for renewal October 2020. I was advised that due to Covid it could be extended. So when i tried a year later..... no staff.
I have tried several times to renew and amend online using my passport details etc etc but Im told the system wont accept my details every time. The post office has been out of forms for months so i cant even do it the old fashioned way.2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

The D1 pack of forms can be ordered online direct from DVLA.

I'm talking about the time they would take to deliver the programme, the descoping of key functionality, the cost over-run and the extensive bonuses paid to consultancy firms with murky and not-so-murky connections to government/ministers
Sure, we'll end up with something that sort of works, eventually. If it's not cancelled.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

The Govt energy saving advert in TV, well one specific point on it, so bear with me.
The point is about turning down your boilers flow temperature to save money. As we don’t have a combi boiler, maybe my gripe here only applies if you have a heat only boiler, but here goes.
Your boiler runs for as long as it’s necessary to reach the temp on your room stat, so if you turn down the boiler flow temp, it needs to then run for longer to reach the temp set on the room stat, therefore using more fuel (gas in our case). But, not trying to be too cynical we tried this, then monitored our smart meter, and sure enough on days where outside temp was similar and use of the gas cooker was the same, at the reduced boiler flow temp we spent £3 more each day. Not much but soon would mount up. We returned our boiler setting to the higher temp and the daily usage and cost came down again with the room stat always staying the same.
(Small) rant over

It’s to do with ensuring you maximise the benefit of condensing boilers. They work most efficiently with low flow temperatures. However, if your flow temps (even after turning down) are still relatively high, you won’t get this benefit.
A good option is to fit a weather compensator, which automatically adjusts the flow temperature according to the exterior temperature. An ex-Disco3 / FFRR owner ......

Aha, I knew there’d be be too it than my simple example, but I guess if you don’t have a condensing boiler then the message doesn’t work.

Begging adverts some 40 years after the 1st ones.
Presumably those years of donations have made little difference. I think even the films are the same ones.A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an MG5 EV
