Free 30min telephone, non personal, pension advice from my SIPS provider that could cost me £8760 if I took the non personal advice offered
Don't get me wrong I don't mind paying for good advice.

BT!
Wifi went down last Tuesday and an engineer was booked for today. 10 minutes before they are due to arrive I received a text to say they won’t be coming today.
Next appointment was going to be Thursday but managed to get it brought forward to Monday after that explained that SHMBO works in the NHS from with very poorly people online and has nowhere else to work that they changed it Monday.
And the EE mini hub they sent out is useless - switches off randomly, doesn’t hold a charge and signal quality here is pretty poor.
You suddenly realise how much we rely on t’internet. Cheers,
Jez

Would those charges apply if the bike went on the same flight as you?
Obviously they’d be a cost for the bike to be in the hold, but that’s a luggage charge. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Shouldn't be the case?
https://www.cyclinguk.org/cycle-magazine/k...y%2020%25.
Obviously picking arguments with customs officials is never going to end up with you winning, but any payment made to keep them from puffing up their collective hi-viz enshrouded chests should be recoverable as there is no duty owed for taking your own bike abroad then returning with it. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

It is. Its just the hassle of travelling with a bike box. Thought I'd avoid it by shipping it. To be honest its all stupid because I own the bike but shipping it doesn't take that into account. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

It seems to be. Just looked at a Carnet. Thats another load of pain and hassle.
I know I can travel with it, and have done so many many times, but it's a pain and all I was trying to do was make my life easy.

“As a precaution, so as to be able to evidence a UK purchase, a cycle tourist might want to carry a copy of receipts matched to serial/frame numbers for all valuable items, to show they were bought in the UK, if this were to be challenged.”
Presumably the same prudent precaution would apply to any high value item such as optical equipment, watches, jewellery etc.
Many of my fishing rods cost more than £390 and could pass for new or recently purchased.

The challenge is shipping it. Carrying it isn’t an issue but shipping it is. I’ve got the same issue looming for house purchase in Italy and shipping furniture over. When we fitted out our French home, we just packed it in a van and drove it over.
Anyway, real world problems. It does irritate me that I can’t just ship my bike out and back easily though. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

Fell hook line & sinker into the “buy cheap -buy twice” hole. Wanted some O rings for hoselock fittings, so thought a quick eBay forage should do the trick. Sure, someone advertising genuine ones selling 5 for £1.49 with free shipping, go for it.
WRONG.
They arrived ok, just all 5 are about 1mm bigger diameter and nowhere near as thick profile. They’ll do as an emergency but now to find some proper ones.
First world problems I know……..

Not specifically today, but over the last few weeks.
Over the years I've bought loads of stuff from eBay & no issues whatsoever until eBay started pushing their "Packlink" service (not content with squeezing PayPal out they want even more by raking off more money from Packlink).
A few weeks ago I bought eight or nine items - two failed to arrive (sent using Packlink) - all the others arrived safely. Claimed for non-delivery & eBay refused the claim but have not provided documented evidence of "delivery".
Last week another item failed to arrive so I've claimed on this one too.
So far, I'm around £65 out of pocket.
I'm seriously considering taking eBay to the small claims court -anyone know how I stand there ? (I know I'm probably throwing good money after bad but at least it will cost them far more than £65 to attend & defend it).
As it happened, every time eBay claimed the items were delivered I was in. It's enough to make me start using Amazon & I hate them with a passion that is borderline certifiable.

My brother has just sent a bike to Italy and the only hassle he's mentioned was having to unpack it after finding he can't send gas cartridges in the box.
I'll check with him later and let you know how he sent it. .

I've never had an issue. I use PayPal and have never heard of Paclink. If you paid by Credit Card raise it with them. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

Unfortunately, I used a Debit Card.
Packlink is an eBay "service" owned AFAIK by................eBay.
