I'm glad to see that Petersw seems to know so much about this new car? are you one of the developers/designers for this Discovery or are you getting back handers to help paint a rosy picture to convince us all to change?..
I'm sure it will drive better it certainly looks better inside but the only car that seems to do it for me was the Black car i saw in the dealership at launch it seemed to hide the awful backside to the point of being not bad.

That's a really valid point, it is based on the current FFRR. I don't care much for the styling discussion, actually it's ok in my eyes. Unfortunately it's a new car that in reality is a new body sitting on a 6 year old platform. In any other manufacturers terms that's old hat.
6 years ain't old. Considering the DS and Evoque are still running around on modified Freelander platforms. The all aluminium D7u platform is as modern as it gets, why change it? It's an adaptable platform.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

We will all be aware that after the demise of arguably the worlds best all round vehicle - the Discovery 3 & 4, [and with Land Rover moving poles apart from it's heritage], that now no vehicle in the range now sports the iconic square rear number plate [as seen below on the very first Land Rover].

Hopefully no more bongs - the D5 we had look around had a dashboard full of error messages but I will let it off as it had been played with and wasn't production.
The brand new FFRR autobiography I just had for a week gave me 3 different error messages in the 350 miles driving! They were much clearer and higher definition though MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten
MY12 HSE - Gone
MY16 HSE Luxury - Sold

If there are no bongs they've obviously missed something off, they'll fix that in the first software update.

Each to their own opinion but afraid I don't agree. The platform is over 6 years old, in usual modern model cycles the replacement for that platform should already be 80% ready. Note, I didn't say it would stop me from having one (hey using my logic my 2016 D4 is essentially 12 year old technology) or that there was any particular issue with that, more a statement of fact as I see it.

Just because they are all aluminium, the platform on the D5 is slightly different from the FFRR it's evolved.
Dare I say unlike D4 ownersPeter

Don't forget us D3 owners, we're still rebelling against the changes in the D4.
