What's the on road performance like ?
Not 0-60 times.....but 35-40 through to 70....
Pick up on overtaking or keeping pace with normal traffic ?
For what I use my D3 for (lots of load carrying & HD towing) a 2 litre probably won't be ideal
What about passenger comfort in the secind row seats ?.... the other thing I do is carry adult sized 5'10" passengers long distances ...... drove 300 miles yesterday doing just that.
Smaller engine !!!! Mine is the 3lt diesel and I can confirm it is smoother, quicker and quieter than the D4 3lt in my view MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Some people were saying when at the dealer launch that when people were experimenting with the rear seats the drivers seat moved forwards towards the steering wheel. Happened to a couple of people I know. Has this been altered now to stop it happening? They did say it was a bit unnerving to suddenly head towards the steering wheel!! The question was do the seats move when the 2nd row are tilted to allow access to the third row and no they do not.
However when all rear seats are lowered the drivers and passengers seat can move forward if they are set at the rear most position, if they were already set right forward they would not move.
This is to allow the 2nd row to fold flat and from memory is the same as the D4, which when the drivers or passengers seat are right back to give maximum leg room in the front you have to move them forward to allow the 2nd row seat to fold without hitting the two front seats.
No difference there other than it is automatic MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

That clears up both scenarios.
Both people that told me probably had seat right back so that would explain the seat moving. Today is the oldest you've been and the youngest you'll ever be again.

Great review Russell. I see that your previous vehicles were v8 D4s. How would you compare quickness of acceleration from a full stop, with your current engine?

All the D4's in US are 5.0 V8's, but as one of my D3/4 mechanics who mainly works on D3/4 V8's tells me the 5.0 V8 on the D4 is not as reliable as the 4.4 D3. He has had to replace 5.0 V8's due to internal issues and oil leak issues.
