This looks like about the end of generating poll numbers. We got 9 that says adults are ok in 2nd row, 8 say they are not. Again, almost a 50/50 split.
These are all independent opinions here.
This is pushing me to a RSS, about $4k more in price. Decisions.....

It really depends on the intended use. There is plenty of room for adults on the middle row and I doubt anyone given a lift would have reason to complain.
The problem is with longer journeys as the seat base is disproportionately low to provide the respectable amount headroom. This lack of support for the thighs places more pressure on the remaining contact points. Some regard the seat base as rather firm but it's not much different to the D4, the difference in feel is due to the lower seat height.
The D4 could happily waft adults along in comfort on epic journeys, the D5 is a different package and to create space they sacrificed some comfort. Arguably the biggest change is moving from 3 middle row seats to a 2+1 configuration and quite frankly nobody would want to sit on the +1 bit of the seat.

Yes I would like to upgrade to a RRS but insurance is too high. I will stay with the D5. Insurance is more reasonable.

You pay money & take a choice.....a lot of money & not that much choice.

OK it's got seven seats is the mantra that seems to pervade all the publicity & sales talk.....
Seven seats at the cost of realistic comfort for 4 or 5....not just a bad idea / flawed logic (as I need to regularly carry 4/5) but seems to be what LR marketing are telling users / buyers they need as opposed to the users buyers saying what thier actual needs are.....working on the principle that customers are the focus of the business.
However.....J/LR marketing have plugged the GDP between the Evoke & the RRS with the Velar.....perhaps there are other models in the Disco sub brand that will address real needs of customers other than just being a new model.
To me the D5 is a feeble attempt bordering on a dismal excuse for a followi on vehicle to D3/4....it may look different & "new" but fails on many counts...BREXIT - done properly.
