Sorry I know this is nothing to do with the D5 but I just wanted to let the journalist know that Utah is not actually a country.

Using the term "Big Country" refers to the scale of the scenery, the fact that the horizon is a long way away etc. It's not intended to mean that Utah is a big country as in a big separate nation.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

But the question in the thread didn't mention that...
I may read reviews....but I don't have or have to have my opinion made up for me......
Maybe those who have bought a D5 or are going to will have thier egos boosted if they read a review that's not negative...maybe.....
..but as said before I feel really sorry for those who have to buy a D5 because it's the esteem thing to do or what's expected of them......
Even though in (not just) my opinion the D5 is far from ideal in critical areas ....like providing comfort for passengers. Fundamental stuff for a lifestyle vehicle that's meant to carry passengers..
Note: Others on here have said the just the same as I have....BREXIT - done properly.

Ordering / buying one - even though the back seat passenger ain't going to be that taken care of + lots more like cargo space, silly small engines,
Accepting whatever LR want to provide - & selling on perfectly good D3/4's.
Note: nothing to do with "style", wifi connectivity, USB sockets, cubby holes....it's about vehicle capability....seating comfort, cargo space, abilty to tow....
Have you ever thought that, perhaps, just maybe, other people's wants and needs are different to yours? It's a shocking thought, I know, but it's possible.

Passenger comfort over long distances.....4-5 hour drives with four or five passengers...adults.
Load carrying....large bulky
Towing largish trailers with vehicles on...
I couldn't give a stuff if it's not "stylish"....Landrover's to me aren't about style they are are about SUV functionality if you want style you aspire to or buy another brand that sell vehicles on this attribute...not SUV functionality
When I can't carry passengers in comfort, move large bulky loads or tow because of "style" it would be an issue...buts it's not because my D3 does all I need exceptionally well.BREXIT - done properly.

I have to agree with BLF. Second row seats not comfortable for any length of drive. Don't know what the third row are like but they looked if there was not as much space as in the D4. Only saving grace was the presence of an arm rest in the D5 that I was in but don't know if that is standard. I always thought the D3 and D4 should have had an arm rest.

Nice vehicle - in 1917 Chevrolet indeed were chasing Ford for volume sales.....vehicles makers got sales by offering features that included reliability.....difference in style was non existing as vehicles looked almost the same......function dictated form as it should right nowBREXIT - done properly.

I think it is a cultural reference to the cowboy movie "Big Country" rather than sloppy prose. No expert, but then what would I know, I recklessly bought a new car wth total disregard for imaginary 6 foot plus passengers I never carry just to satisfy my ego, and my low levels of self esteem. Perhaps you're overly sensitive? When I read it, I just thought "big open spaces" rather than defined nation states. I read building specifications and see different things to others. I guess it's what we get used to...Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

It is not sloppy prose and is a perfectly acceptable, and established, term in the context used.
Country in this context does not mean nation state anymore so than it does in the phrases 'coal country', 'Black Country' or 'hill country'. It is merely a term for a landscape.
Big Country merely refers to a landscape of vast skies and endless terrain and is widely used to describe the vistas of the western States of the US.
