Ours is the 4 bike one (which is the 3 bike version with an extender). 4 mountain bikes are no problem, but there is a knack to interlock them as the bars can get in the way. The kids bikes are very heavy and I never use the straps supplied. Not had any problems with it moving. Been all over the country with it. The rack slides out far enough to get the dogs in and out the boot no problem. It does feel very heavy though when sliding it back into position and it needs a forceful push the get it to lock into place (be sure to make sure the locking mechanism has clicked before you set off). I've never had the handlebars of the first bike get close to the rear window to cause any worry.
