Help. Front nearside door stuck shut

Can't get it open. Tried the double 'click' with the key and tried the lock/unlock buttons on the dash. Tried wd40 in key access, tried bashing from outside and inside with help of a mate, no luck. Even went so far as giving it to a local Indy for a day, still locked shut. I'm now at a loss what to do next. I've looked at a few threads and am o.k. with the repair/replace door locking mechanism but cant get to the door card to remove it. Wondered if anyone has any idea where to go next or if anyone has had the same problem. What did you do? Would I be able to gain access to the door card for removal if I took the front seat out?

Don't really want to trash door card and have to buy a new one.

Thanks.

Have you tried pressing the unlock button on dash and at the same time pulling the unlock switch on the door?

You can buy break in kits on ebay etc and if you can get a pic of the doors inside you may be able to see which bit you can hook onto?
Of course lots of modern cars have shields over the locks to prevent the toe rags getting in.

Good idea. I've got access to a slim jim Mr. Green so that might do it. I've also got a full package breakdown with the RAC. May have to give them a ring, so a couple of options.

I'll keep this updated if anyone does have the same problem.

Thanks.

I got mine open by twisting the key in the door lock as far as possible and pressing the unlock button on the key. It finally unlocked after some time. Tried all other methods before that with no luck.

Irwin.

Just so I've got this right, did you twist key clockwise to unlock? Although I've tried both directions didn't want to twist in wrong direction in case key broke. Did you have to use much pressure to unlock?

Thanks.

Clockwise and holding with some pressure, not too much and then pressing unlock button.

Sounds like the catch has gone. It's a nightmare locked shut. I had it a few months back.

There is a guide on here that proved valuable. New catch is about 100 quid from dealer.

I managed to remove door card without breaking it. It made some serious noises but survived.

Getting the speaker out was the hardest bit for me. You can't get the card out without getting the speaker out.

Also the way mine broke I had to get my arms in with a set of right angled circling pliers to release the door catch.

I would also say if you have big arms forget trying as you need skinny long arms to get in the holes to unclip the window and potentially the door catch.

The off side door shouldn't be a problem to open if the emergency manual key lock has been maintained correctly, give it a good dose of penetrating oil twice a day and use maximum force clockwise without breaking the key.
It is a two minute job to take the window glass out, this will give visible access to the actuator and lock which can be sprayed with penetrating oil. Tapping the actuator with a long rod while operating the remote may persuade it to operate to open, if it should operate do not close the door as it will fail again.

This is the culprit, the larger motor of the two, you can take it out(just unplugs) strip it down and clean it or fit a new motor at a fraction on the cost of a new actuator It just so happens I have a surplus motor!

 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Had another go today at getting the door open, tried everything I could think of and more. Door still remains shut. Think I'm going to have to tackle this with the door shut but it wont be me doing the headstand in the passenger footwell!! I've managed to rope in a helper who is younger and more agile with better eyes for this weekend.

Thanks all for your tips and suggestions, i'll let you know how I get on.

M3DPO you have a pm
