Laugh I nearly cried !!!
Bought my D3 in Feb , gave the garage a list of faults I found about 1 month later - Volvo garage , they couldnt do it so waited a month to get it booked into their landrover franchise - been there 2 days and they came back with work to do BEFORE they go further!! Gave them a 2 page list!
O/S/F wheel bearing £503.73 - ( the only bit warranty covers!!)
N/S INNER STEERING ARM HAS EXCESSIVE PLAY £366.71 - they didny mot before sale as it had 9 months on it - used cars should have 12 months !
WHOLE AIR SPRING REQUIRES REPLACEMENT £623.50
Air Con LEAK IN SYSTEM - Investigation £105 - didnt ask them to check this
GEARBOX REQUIRES DOUBLE FLUSH AND DRIVE AGAIN £920.64
EGR BANK O STUCK OPEN £610.42 - told them they are blanked and remapped
EGR BANK 1 STUCK OPEN £413.39
REAR PADS 50% WORN £208.19 - never asked to check these- plus they are fine!
+ VAT
£4500!!!!!!!!
Now the car comes with a 12 month warranty covering major components but .... it a month old and developed these faults and some more, dont think it was PDI'd properly - or they would have spotted the whel bearing and steering arm! Those pricers are what Landrover want to charge Volvo to repair before they do any other work.
Ive told them they are taking the as internal prices and can get a specialist to do work for far less.
I suspect they may try to take car back and refund me as it will cost them loads to fix! but I want to keep it.
Waiting for the GM to come in Tues so workshop can talk to him and find out how to proceed! Had to give back the Disco sport loan car - thank god!! waiting for a replacement loaner tomorrow until things get moving!
Not too happy having spent £2500 on it getting service and belts done, remap, egr blank and patch , sidesteps etc plus £11k on car ! 2008 Discovery 3 2.7 HSE

I'm going to try to get the dealer to send it to a local specialist, as those prices are ridiculous! I paid top dollar for a car that wants this much money spending after a couple of months? It'll be put right or trading standards will be getting a call! 2008 Discovery 3 2.7 HSE

Well had a meeting today with sales manager and as suspected they wanted to buy car back! But only for what I paid not for what I've spent since! So no was the answer for im keeping it and sorting it myself, gearbox flush by Geoff , sourcing parts around tinternet already found an air shock , £40 steering arm from local parts co £7 not £370!!! Need an intercooler pipe £40 new,a battery £90 and a bit of elbow grease but it will be fixed and for far less then these robbers tried to quote ! Letting Land Rover do the wheel bearing under the warranty so I get genuine parts and hopefully a warranty on work!
I did get garage to contribute £1000 to repairs if I give them receipts so not all bad news!

That happened to me except they agreed to give the car a MOT even though it had 9 months on it, and guess what it failed on all suspension bushes upper and lower front tyres bold brake discs and pads on the front.
Then they Mot'd it again and it failed on rotten rear brake pipes so they had to change them as well.
I had to drive a Picasso round for the 3 weeks.
When I got it back it was like a new car nice n tight.
Total bill just short of £3500 and I paid £10500 for a 55 se which had been spec'd to hse but without the sunroof sive's.
Always ask for an MOT it can save you £1000's
