Couple of questions really. Where do you take your cars for a regas? Are the Halfords, formula 1, kwik fit chains any good? Just want to be able to trust there opinions on if anything fubar'ed or not. I've had cars done in the past and paid out for it only to find it's all leaked out the next day.
Also do all hse's have rear aircon? From what I have seen it's normally roof mounted. Reason I ask is ours is a hse but has a roof mounted DVD player and has no controls or anything for rear aircon.
Thanks in advance.

No Halfords and kwikfit won't be able to diagnose leaks if present.
Save yourself money in the long run and find a local speclist

Rear air is quite unusual on the D3, was very rare on the D2 and ultra rare on the D1

Mine also needs doing.
ATS have an offer on at the moment 40% off, works out about £28.
I assume they have similar machine to Kwik Fit etc, so they evacuate the system and hold it under vacuum for a while to see if there are any leaks, but from what i have read somewhere, the system should be under pressure to truly reveal any leaks.
I suppose at that price as long as they also inject a dye, if there is a leak it can be detected easily.

I'm certain that Kwikfit have a 'if its not colder then you don't pay' offer on re-gas so if it is leaking and doesn't work you don't pay.

I took a car into KwikFit for an AC diagnosis. No pressure in the system at all
Passed its pressure test, UV dye added, gassed up fine and worked
Got it back to the workshop, removed the grill, and found 4 or 5 different areas the condenser was leaking from. New parts delivered next day, all the gas had leaked out in the space of less than 24 hours...
Although in all honesty, I didn't expect anything less My D3 Build Thread

Oxygen Free Nitrogen/OFN, aka Dry Nitrogen.
Is the commonest gas used for pressure testing air conditioning (and refrigeration) systems.
