My unusual "wobble while braking" fix |
|
Violent wobble while braking through the wheel, the wheel would go from 10 til 2 if lightish braking. Pretty bad.
Wanted to change discs and pads over the weekend, but wanted OEM and couldn't get them delivered over the weekend.
Anyway, I remembered back to my old track day days, and some advice I was given to remove pad deposits. (Now I didnt really think the disco issue was pad deposits, as they are old discs and pretty worn!).
So off I went, Sunday morning, to a very quiet local dual carriageway, and began!
100-10 mph*** PANIC braking (right on the verge of ABS, but preferably not). Did it 6 times, until I didn't dare do it any more as the brakes were fading. very important NOT to actually come to a stop.
Then drove at 60 mph for a good 15-20 mins with no braking at all (if possible).
No more brake wobble. I was expecting it back this morning after everything had cooled down overnight, but the 30 mile trip to work this morning was good, like having new discs.
Now, I do not profess to this working for everyone and I also think the issue might come back, but for a short term fix I am happy.
**** Don't try this at home, its dangerous blah blah blah, you will kill everyone one the road and all kittens etc.

never get away with that round here ... all the motorways are "smart" motorways. Average speed cameras everywhere
have to find a long enough 20mph zone I suppose. .

Removal of number plate would manage that situation
(Just work out of the average cameras are front or rear facing first!).
