GS model enable cruise control and steering audio controls
Hi
So I have just bought a Disco 3 GS with no steering controls and a CD-400 stereo and have cobbled together from a number of threads that the following is possible
(Simply) change the left and right steering control packs to the ones with the cruise control buttons and audio buttons (maybe just change the steering wheel to one form a SE/HSE?) and then it is just a case that the audio buttons will just magically work through the existing loom and only then need to get cruise control turned on in the ECU by a friendly land rover independent garage?
Sound too simple!
any help for a newbie would be appreciated.
Loving all of the pointers and information I have found so far - brilliant forum.
If you've no buttons now, the CCF will need to be set to expect them, you'll also need the CCF editing to tell the car it has cruise control fitted , it's not just a plug and play Altox GSM FBH controller thread

OK thanks Beanie - so from a hardware perspective I just replace my left and right steering wheel switch packs that only have the horn with ones from a donor steering wheel which have the cruise control and audio.
Do I need to do anything with the clock spring or will that already have all the right 'wiring' on it already?
Does anyone know anyone that can program the CCF based around the High Wycombe / Aylesbury / Thame area in Bucks/South Oxfordshire?
Thanks again.

I think it's just a case of replacing the buttons, and then test to see if they work.

Thanks beanie.
Can anyone think of any other simple upgrades to the GS model that aren't too expensive??
It's it possible to upgrade the head unit to an oem one with Bluetooth phone&audio/navigation... Quote like the look of the standard head unit... So 90's!!!

I have a GS D3.
I installed the radio and cruse control buttons on the steering wheel.
It just worked.
No lights on the dash for cruse control though.
I also modified a Allen key to remove the air bag, holding it with a pair of vice grips.
I cut the end of Allen key with a angle grinder leaving a leg of 5mm or so.
Does no harm to try it !

Hi All
Thanks to Beanie's search in his shed I now have cruise and stereo buttons fitted!
Once I have a few items to enable I will be on the hunt for someone who can programme the cruise buttons.
Now ordered light sensor, auto headlight switch, auto wiper stalk and dimming rear view mirror
Any chance someone could send me a picture of the housing around the rain sensor (kind of general area behind the rear view miror) and also what it looks like with the housing around the rain sensor removed please!

Fitted the buttons and they don't work ?
On olhers cars rain sensor models had different windscreens but maybe they standardised things these days
