I put my disco in for a new clutch a couple of months ago and my key fob appears now to open my boot rather than work my headlights as it did before. I have followed the mannual i.e. insert key, hold down third button, flash lights but no ping sounds. Am I going mad, or have I missed something here?

Have you tried using the spare to see if its the key or the D3 ?
Also try with the ignition on (not engine though).

Really useful. Thanks. What would you call a car that spent 70 days off road then? A good buy? Something you'd stick with? Or a shed...

Marky i think you will find that you don't need to put the key in the ignition but just hold it with the 3rd button depressed and activate main beam flash you should then hear the bong to confirm configaration has been accepted Tintenter

But without the full details how do we know who is to blame....
For example:-
Why was it in the garage
How long before the problem was identified
If new parts needed - how long did these take..
etc....etc.....
Believe me, I do not wish to defend LR as I too have had nothing but problems on the 3 occassions I have taken mine to $hitstones for 3 minor jobs - Driving lamps to be fitted, Sat Nav on the move upgrade and then a paint defect - all 3 times I had to take the D3 back to get put right after their botched jobs, but this is not the D3's fault, just a LR dealership.....so just trying to see where the real problem lies, and yes you can always get a bad apple - as I bought an Impreza Turbo - supposed to be bullet proof - well the bonnet vents are there to let out smoke so there are bad apples everywhere I'm afraid to say

If you put the key in the ignition, doesn't it disable the buttons from functioning anyway, so I can see the logic in not having the key in the ignition to set the key fob.

I can still turn my lights on and off with the key in the ignition.

Just out of interest I my key fob started opening my boot as well. I thought I was going mad as every time I came back to the car after pressing the 3rd button the boot was open. Sorted the problem by reprogramming the 3rd button. Perhaps LR have added another function we don't know about.

if you hold down the third button and open the tailgate, this will reprogramme the key. maybe you inadvertently did this at some stage.
