Portable Battery Charger
I have built a portable leisure battery box for camping to run the usual, toolbox, lights etc etc. So far I have been going on weekend trips so a full charge from home has been more than enough for a weekends use. Over the summer I am planning a couple of longer trips, therefore it would be ideal to able to top up the portable leisure battery from the car.
I have two schools of thought...
1) I have towing electrics fitted, presumable there is a wire that would charge a leisure battery in a caravan. Would it be possible to tap into that and add an Anderson connector to connect the new battery??
2) Install a split charge system (probably a T-Max system) and run a live to the boot to connect to the portable battery by an Anderson connector.
My preference is option 2, but I wanted to know if the first option was a possibility.
Thanks.

Happy to be corrected but I would have thought option two would be more effective in getting more amps into an empty power pack more quickly if you've hammered it. Option one would work but be more of a maintenance charge level?

An alternative to option one is to plug into the rear compartment cigar lighter, but this like the tow bar socket would only supply a low charge, I have an heavy duty jump start that can be charged with this method although I have never used it, T-max is a far better option IMO.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

A few pictures of the system I had fitted utilising a Traxide System.
The above Anderson plug sits behind the cover plate when not in use and does not interfere with the towing electrics. The plug is used to connect to my battery box when used outside the vehicle and can also be used the charge all vehicle batteries through a solar system via a MTTPS controller.
In the rear there is also an Anderson plug to connect my battery box the the Traxide system to keep it topped up on the move and can be connected to an inverter if 240v are required. Beside it is the connection for the Engel, along with a USB charging port and a 12v socket
