Rumour of 'rear end redesign'

I hear a rumour of a D5 'rear end redesign'.

No further details were known, although I can only assume it relates to the tailgate and position of the number plate, to take it back to the style of the tailgate on the concept with a central plate position. Clearly anything that involves the body shell and C pillars would be a monumentally expensive task.

Let's see what comes over the horizon.

Unless they change the c-pillar the people in row 3 will never see what comes over the horizon.

I too hear of a redesigned rear with central plate and 'less busy' lower bumper design.

It's the lower bumper section that bothers me more than the number plate. The combination of the two is unforgivable though.

If it's confirmed that will make Sales stutter for sure. If they do soon it will also confirm what most of us think on here, they dropped a big bol$$ck on that rear end

I can only assume that it will be part of the first facelift, I would be extremely surprised if it came out any sooner. I can't recall any other car models being altered very soon after the launch.

I'll believe it when I see it. Until then I'll take it as nonsense.

Ugly rear a woman's prerogative

Just a view but had opportunity to take SWMBO to see the whole range at dealers, we were just passing, as you do Wink

I have been trying for months, knew the D5, RR, RRS, DS, and Evoque were all there and thought Velar would be around somewhere. She has been set on RR but at £20k less for the RRS I was thinking of my pocket, maybe the Velar would get royal approval even.

Straight up to the D5 and to the disdain of fawning sales person she would not even sit in it as the rear was considered sooooo ugly.

Ps she still likes the RR but she liked the Evoque too......thinking of my pocket!

My opinion is that Land Rover should stick to what they do best. Making elegant but not over styled monsters of the outdoors. The new Discovery is trying too hard to be over sleek and is in danger of losing it's rugged stylish looks....to be fair they have gone already with the new D5. The 6,7th passengers have about as much room as a XC90 or Q5 and this is one of the D3 and D4 selling points.....comfort, style and great interior space.

LEAVE IT ALONE Land Rover.

You can't catch a disease from it Rolling Eyes I really don't see what all the fuss is about over the positioning of a number plate.

D5 has more room in the 3rd row than a Q5 Whistle but the D5 has to be sleek to meet emission regulations, pedestrian impact regulations. It doesn't need to look rugged to be rugged.

The fuss appears to be over early sales figures and customer feedback at dealers, globally.

This is true but with the back pillar the view out is about the same at the Volvo and Audi and it feels and it smaller than the D3 and D4. I agree it doesn't have to look rugged to be rugged but it looks like a Hovis loaf.

If it is slow at selling I would put that down to the overall packaging rather than the positioning of a number plate.

In the UK April was the worst month for car sales for a longtime due to the new VED, I really don't think a couple of months of sales tells anything considering owners are still waiting for cars and new orders aren't being delivered until September.
