This year for the first time we are taking the disco and roof tent on a little tour of France & Spain. My wife has never done this sort of camping before and is a little apprehensive about accommodation, that is to say we don't like busy campsites with children,swimming pools bars,resteraunts, play area,s or anything like that. Basically a field with a shower block near the sea will suite us, does anybody know of anything like that on the way down from Roscoff through La Rochelle to Bordeaux. When we eventually get to Spain we know where to go as I recced that last year while we were in the MG. I know it sounds a little anti-social but thats the way we like it. We did all the busy campsites years ago when our children were young. Any help appreciated,can't beat 1st hand experience of a place The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

There are some cracking Sites on the il de re just off La Rochelle.
Very laid back, I stayed at a mainly French site opposite the beach. Showers and toilets only and very relaxing. Le henri Bois I thinking was called

Very good Richard hopefully not as it eats more than my wife (Thats if it was a rat, there were some pretty big footprints in the snow when we arrived back from the pub )The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

I stopped on the Il de Re many years ago, very nice it was to but basic, cant remember the name of the site though, I know you like to rough it but if you go into Saint Martin De Re ( I think) there is a harbour surrounded by restaurant's.
