switching from Volvo Xc90 2007 to Landrover Discovery 4 |
|
Hi, i am considering buying a 2012 Discovery 4 7 seater, not very experienced with LandRover, like to understand average experiences maintenance. I have been told after 2011 major improvements taken place? My experience driving a Volvo, it comes with bit of luck and you know maintenance is allways a risk especially these type of wagons.... Thanks for sharing

Don't hesitate just do it, we had the XC90 and it was a wonderful car but after being in the discovery camp for 12 years the Volvo doesn't compare.
Fuel economy is the only disadvantage D4 HSE Lux,corris grey.
D3-2006 Metropolis.
Silver.
Black leather.
Lots of toys.

The slightly higher output engine and the 8 speed gearbox appeared in MY 2012 (UK 61 plate or later).
Just make sure it's got a full reputable service history, and get a warranty MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

if getting an LR4 get a 5.0 V8 petrol version or a 2014-2016 V6 petrol version.

We went from an XC90 ('05 plate) to a D4. Main reason was that the D4 has better leg room in the third row of seats and the kids are now teenagers.
That said the D4 is higher but fuel economy is worse.
Pleased we made the move but some cracking old style XC90's around at decent money so maybe that is a consideration if your rear seat occupants will fit?

You really can't beat it for space and the rearmost seats are actually pretty roomy. Drivability is superb for such a big brick. The reliability for the D4 is streets ahead of previous versions, but being complicated beasts with, depending what happens, some chunky bills for rectifying stuff, a warranty makes good sense.
