D4 Engine Failures
Have just put a deposit down on a 2013 HSE with 40k on it. Its from a main stealer so includes the 2 year warranty and breakdown with the option to extend the warranty as long as its done inside the 2 years. Having suffered at the hand of the failed oil pump bolt on the Disco 2 and catastrophic engine failure I am a tad nervous about the Disco 4 issues I am reading.
So the question I have of this forum as I am not clear. Where the engine is failing due to the crank issue, are landrover covering all the costs of the repairs on cars in warranty. I appreciate its a battle if your car is out of warranty but I would expect them to foot the full bill if the car is in warranty.
Are my expectations right or wrong ?

In warranty the warranty company will cover it, as long as you've jumped through the right hoops re servicing, MOT, etc. The warranty on a used LR is LR branded but provided by Car Care Plan, last time I looked, LR itself only cover up to the 3rd birthday. If no warranty, no LR are generally not covering the engines going bang. The day I can't get a decent warranty on my D4 is the day it goes and almost 30 years of LR ownership/16 LRs & RRs will come to an end.

Why not ask for a full explanation for the Dealers you're buying from and ask them to confirm if its covered in full

I would be confident that the Land Rover warranty would pay in full so long as you keep it serviced as per manufacturers schedule. Also make sure you check the oil regularly.

Or better fully read (and understand) the T&Cs of the warranty, that's what counts. What the dealer says is of no consequence cf the T&Cs.
