DU65UNE STOLEN 2 aug Hampton in arden
Hi, my disco 4, se tech , white with almond leather, privacy glass, reg September 15 was stolen from Hampton in Arden train station around 2 aug. heavy duty towbar with a max rack bike attachment. Rear nearside passenger window was broken to get in. If anyone sees it call me on 07970255845 please. Feeling the pain now!!! Thanks Richard
Aside from breaking the window, do you know rest of method used to steal it?
My first was taken with all evidence bring the obd port key clone method but LR told me cars after 2011 had an upgraded system to stop that..

Hi, just had the insurance guy around for a 2.5hr interview about the theft. They broke into my car through the nearside passenger window and must have used the OBD port to get it going.
The insurance validator was an ex Detective Inspector and said that it was very unlikely to get my car back. He recommended to fit a GPS tracker where you can set a geo fence on the app should the the car move. The unit on his boat has a battery life of 6 weeks on it. http://www.gotek7.com
Just saw this report this week about another disco 4 being nicked in solihull. Where do they all end up?

Good luck with the claim, very worrying.
When I purchased mine I mentioned theft and the salesman advised treating the car key like a wallet. Had you used any sort of hand car wash or handed the keys over to anyone recently?Gary

Nigeria used to be "the" destination but I believe other countries are now in this game.
I was told there is/was a guy in Sicily responsible for about 400 luxury car thefts PER WEEK last year, team working all across Italy.
Tracker wise, if you get the remote FBH controller, it can track the car as well as give you the benefit of a warm car on cold mornings 🙂.

No, no keys have been handed over car wash etc. I have never used that car park before as I'm normally around the Warwick Coventry area. When I parked the car, there were 2 other cars in the car park, both were empty. I believe it is an OBD theft. If I knew what I know now, I would have a GPS system on it. Miss the car.....Apparently the tracker system, the crooks know where they are fitted on disco4 and they tend to rip the interior trim to get at the device quickly.

Sorry to hear this, not good news at all.
As the professional thieves seem to target our cars via the OBD port I fitted a protector to mine.
It won't stop a determined thief but it will slow them down.
Hopefully if they have to spend to much time working on the car they will give up.
Hope the car is found.

That's a clever bit of kit fella. Well done 👍The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

Sorry to hear about the loss of your car.
One thing that perplexes me is (and I understand if the answer to this is inappropriate for discussion on a public forum) how do they open the door to get in and get to the obd port?
If the car is double locked you can't reach in through a broken side window and open it from the inside can you? Or do they climb in through the broken window? I'm only curious in the interests of trying to ensure I and anyone else reading understand all the security features thoroughly.

Mine sits on the drive with a Disklok fitted, had footage of some scroat having a snoop at 3.30 am just over a week ago, hopefully deterred further interference.

My LR4 being stolen in Solihull (14th August 2017)
Hi, it was my car (being stolen) featured on Midlands Today.
Just wondered if you got yours back?
The BBC Midlands Today news coverage can be viewed here:
I am really missing mine. My wife doesn't want another one on the drive as it looks like they are being heavily targeted across the area right now.
I posted the video of the theft on YouTube. You can watch it here:
The same thieves targeted a Range Rover Sport just 1.5 hrs before in Coventry. The owner (Rob) posted his CCTV footage here:
I would be interested in anyone who has stopped a theft by protecting the OBD port.
I am posting a couple of photos just in case but I am doubtful that I will see it again.

Thieving scum.
Is there a fuse that can be taken out that will disable the ODB port only but allow the car to run, or would putting it on a secret switch be an option?
