Berlin - Alt-Moabit area - anyone know it? |
|
Anyone familiar with this part of Berlin? We've been offered an apartment there for a week's break and wondered if it was in a good / safe area. It's in one of the side roads between Alt-Moabit and Levetzowstrasse. Looks OK on Googly Maps
Thanks. ____

Moabit could be considered a rung below Wedding which in turn is a rung below Mitte. There are a lot of Government buildings and not as many restaurants and nightlife as, say, Mitte. If you are near transport links that's fine otherwise you may feel a bit remote to central Berlin. I've never had a problem in Berlin safety wise and you should be fine given the usual safe guards and common sense are followed. You will rarely find deserted streets even in the early hours. Moabit would not be my first choice to stay but if the price is right and depending where you want to go it may suit you fine. By coincidence I am driving to Berlin tomorrow!
