Bit of faith restored seems many on the FB page think they arent needed with a D3/4 and it seems the hrosey set are worse
Quote:
I can honestly say that in 40 years of being around horses and being at horse shows and events, NOT ONCE have I ever seen a towing vehicle with add on mirrors, not even for the 'toilet' caravan!
Seems that many thing they can see the side of the van that's good enough, a typical response

I tow with a discovery and never needed to fit tow mirrors I can see clearly down both sides so why would I fit them?

QQ then: I have just bought an expedition trailer that comes in at 1900mm wide and the D4 is just over 2000mm (2200 mirrors out). I guess you make a judgement call based on towing, but would you use towing mirrors for this?Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! Cannot understand why anyone towing a trailer that is wider than the towcar wouldn't use them. It does amaze me the amount of drivers I see towing without suitable mirrors. Seeing the front corner is completely different to seeing the rear corner.

I would say no based on it being narrower. But this is what you need to comply with if its wider.
Only time i haven't is when i'd forgotten to put them in the car when picking van up from service, other than that then yes & it is so much better with them onPaul.

Nor do I Horsebox we borrow is only 5"6 wide, our livestock trailer on the other hand is 2.3 so do with that farmers are quite guilty of not using them.==================================

I use them when going away with the caravan, but must admit to being guilty of laziness and not bothering if I am just taking it to the dealership 3 mile away

I use them on my D4 and D2, my caravan is wider than both but they are not a legal requirement as I do not need them if I tow it using my Transit. I do not use mirrors at all towing my IW trailer as they are not required to comply with the law.

It is not actually a requirement by law to have towing mirrors but you must have adequate view behind which often means using mirrors but not always.
