If you wanted a night in the brackenrigg they do some excellent deals in January. And it's just down the road.

We stayed on the site in September and to be honest weren't all that impressed. The pitches are small and you feel hemmed in. The toilet blocked where spotless though so top marks there. No wi-fi, not a strong enough signal which though not the end od of the world the pitch fees are high so expect better.
We found the food at the brackenrigg to be poor, much better at he Royal hotel in dockery or for a further 10 minutes in the car the horse and farrier in threlkeld.
