It didn’t look (like everything on YouTube) like a bad job but I decided to give it to the Indy as they were able to source the Denso alternator in less than a day and it’s -10 outside… Whistle

It’s cool to do things in the summer but it’s not fun to this time of the year outside Mr. Green

I’ve been chasing a lean bank 1, bank 2 or both condition over the last 6 months. It comes and goes. Sometimes a few drives one after another, sometimes weeks without anything showing up. Rolling Eyes

Have changed O rings and such, checked the air ducts for leaks, etc. etc. essentially trying to diagnose but attempting to avoid blindly throwing the parts cannon at the problem Mr. Green

I’ve used my trusty IID for this, particularly the live values, recording and exporting to PDF. I’ve been looking at short term trims, long term trims, O2 equivalence ratios and finally the observed requested mass air flow values. In particular with the last two I noticed that they tended to diverge quite a lot (requested 50, actual 30, etc.). Also the trims were all over the place often between 10 and 20.

About the only thing I figured out it wasn’t was O2 sensors since the equivalence ratios constantly looked fine with both banks very close to 1.0.

A friend wondered whether the current MAF sensor would be “tired” because they can age. I had applied CRC Airflow cleaner a few months ago when this happened the first time. It doesn’t do miracles, it seems Laughing

So, kind of on a lark decided to replace the current MAF sensor - which upon inspection turned out to be a genuine LR part manufactured in 2004 by Denso - with a brand new one also from Denso. The Denso part is DAN113, cost me 159 eur VAT 24%...Whistle

Based on the vehicle’s behavior after the swap it was well worth it! It seems like the car is more performant, it doesn’t hesitate at all when putting the pedal down and the trim spreads are very tight near zero. Also now the requested and actual MAF rates are constantly close to each other unlike with the previous sensor.

I’m amazed so far. I’ll see if it affects fuel consumption, too. One would imagine it does.

Hopefully this concludes the lean hunting for now. Knock on wood and all that. Laughing

Ive been working through possibly a similar problem. Lumpy idle and a slight misfire at about 1000-1200 rpm. I had lean mixture codes and the long term trim was up around +10 to 12.

So far Ive found that a previous owner managed to strip the threads where the EGR valve attaches to the throttle body elbow allowing air to be drawn in there.

Replaced coolant expansion tank.

Replaced the expansion tank to radiator return and EGR return hose (PCH500153)…. I was a cheapskate and bought a Gates branded one for 25 euro or roughly 1/2 price of genuine. A word of warning: The jubilee clips on it were too tight at the radiator and EGR end 🤯 situation was saved by reusing the old clips from the old hose.

Replaced the heater core. Took a lot of pictures.

Replace narrow coolant pipe/ hose

We love ours! 05 Silver HSE as is common (well, as common as you can be with around 340 in UK)
Anyone know about changing the coolant hose that leads to the coolant tank?
Broke while green laning. Bought the replacement, but can’t see how to get at the far end clip!
Thanks

May be a simple one - does anyone know a part number/size on the O-ring on the MAF sensor?

Took mine out for a clean and the o-ring is stretched and not offering a perfect seal.

Mislaid my verniers and none of my selection fit!

From LR’s perspective it’s one part, see https://new.lrcat.com/#!/12128/41216/43986/3436/44044. Perhaps the denso parts catalog could help? Their part for it is DMA0113.
