There are multiple threads on this topic, some very old.
Might I ask please for current views on remote FBH controllers. I have a 2016 MY D4 Landmark, the build sheet says it has "park heating"; but there is no remote control.
Do I buy a JLR remote & have it activated; or go with Altox, BAS or an alternative.
I need to remotely switch the FBH on, & preferably switch the fans on, from a distance of less than 50 yards. Anything on top of this is a bonus.
Advice please gurus.

I've added an Altox unit to my MY2011 D4 on the basis it includes tracking ability too.

Ive gone for the Genuine LR kit from Bodsy this does exactly what your looking for if you don’t want the additional tracking function, Bodsys Kit is much cheaper than the official stealers kit same stuff.
You should have the timed climate function available on your screen as well If I’m correct.
The LR kit you need to carry or have access to the additional remote, fine if your only using it at home, more to carry on your keys if you want to use it elsewhere
Altox and BAS will both respond to text or calls to start and both have tracking options, Altox can also be started from the app and run time varied , BAS can, but by text only still
Altox has a very good app (BAS app is apparently in development) so BAS tracking is a text of your car location on google maps , where as Altox is on the app and will show 30 days history.
The other benefit to Altox is you can fit it in the rear where the LR kit plugs in 👍
Horses for courses, but what ever you decide, I'm happy to supply one to you

What SIM do I get - GiffGaff or is there an alternative "Evergreen" SIM ? If GiggGaff do I have to do anything to keep it alive, or will using it in the Altox box be sufficient - for instance checking the location of the car?
Clearly I need the 6-pin Altox v5/v6 adapter loom from the forum shop.
Is there any disadvantage in keeping my options open by opting to keep the factory receiver & use Altox accessories?

My BAS FBHIC3 is also fitted in the rear panel
Kind of defeats the option to start by headlamp flash & ignition sensing to trigger tracking alerts etc what you done with the antenna and temp sensors ?
Ps mines in the battery box , I have more than one controller so speak from experience of all being fitted
