SatNav: Can't programme new destinations |
|
My ('54 D3 SE) satnav worked in the three weeks I've had the car, but today it stopped me from entering new destination addresses. It will allow old destinations to be selected but all the other options to input new destinations are greyed out. Bamboozled, or what!
I've done the obvious stuff, read the tutorial and cancelled current route, but can't solve the problem. The last resort of switching it off and back on again made no difference either.....
Wanted to find out what version of DVD but I've no managed to find it yet. Someone on here said its under the passenger seat but looked and there is a black plastic cover in the way. Left it as didn't want to break anything.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?
Many thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

Are you trying to put the destination in while you are moving or while parked.
The cover on the front of the seat just pulls off ...personally i just bring the seat forward and up as far as it will go.Then you can get your hand in to the dvd player. There is a little slide button on the right which protects the eject ..slide that then push the eject which is on the left .. Thanks Wiggs.
Oh that makes sense. Inconvenient but sensible. My wife was programming it while I drove. At least thats what I'll tell the nice policeman!
Many thanks.

Oh thanks Wiggs, very kind. had a look tonight but with the seat as far back as it can go, I still cant see the sat nav box containing the DVD. Tried to pull the black plastic cover under the front of the seat but didn't want to risk snapping it. Can you remember how to release the black plastic cover?
Sorry I'm just not doing too well on this one! 04 TDV6 SE Auto Vienna Green/Tundra Leather - LR side steps.

Wiggs,
Thanks I've got the disc out at last....
On the front is printed: -
Land Rover Part Number YIW500012
Denso part No 464210-5280
It says Copyright 2004 (makes sense as its a Nov 2004 registered car)
And on the other side around the spindle hole is printed in feint: -
464210-6130A-1 2
Hope this means something!?

You have a pretty old disk there ...
You can enter a code into the diagnostic screen which enables you to use it as if you were parked up.
You need to do this every time you start the car ...or every journey .
I have found a previous thred with pictures to make it easier for you.
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2102
Alternatively , you can get a software update done on your car which will unlock the sat nav on the move. But for this to work you will have to have a newer disk.
One more option ..and that is to get a newer disk and remove the "loader kwi" file from the disk ...then reburn it without that file. This way you will have newer maps , but with the old manual way of hacking the diagnostic screen.
Disks are
YIW500012 (2004)
YIW500013 (2005)
These 2 will work with the 1791 hack
YIW500200 (2006)
YIW500250 (2007)
YIW500260 (2008)
These 3 will all work with the software upgrade that LR does.
Hope that makes sence G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Oh many thanks Wiggs.
Maybe look out for a later disk but I'll use the RR Sport thread fix, which seems quite workable, in the meantime.
Thanks very much for your help.
